Take the top portion of the lawnmower off and the pull cord will be inside the top portion. You shoould be able to take out the little pulley and then retie the string inside of it and put it back.

The mower has all new belts on it also. No matter what you do, it will not go anywhere.

you might have loose or broken pulley. tension spring broke or not on. belts could be on wrong. trans axle in neutral and or need fluid maybe broke.

I have a dog that chewed the string off of my lawn mower, any idea how much it would cost to replace? It's a Yard Man Lawn Mower self propelled close to 2 mnths old.

You can buy a replacement cord at any hardware store for $5 - $15.

I have a Yard-Man self-propelled lawn mower with a 6.5 hp Briggs & Stratton engine. Had problems starting it - changed the oil, spark plug, air filter and did a thorogh cleaning. The lawn mower will start now but once it has been used and turned off, it won't start again. It has to be left for several hours before it will start again.

IF it runs fine..... for hours until you shut it down, then it won't start.... , its not the coil..... they usually (when they heat up) after a few minutes cut spark till they cool down a little (maybe 5 minutes or less) and they start again.
was the air filter cleaned? or replaced (this should have a paper filter, don't clean it, replace it)

I'd make sure (6.5? quantum?) that the carb is on good and tight, and the air filter housing is on good and tight..... try it without the gascap real quick as well....

It doesn't sound like the carb..... but sounds like a possible air leak around the carb. (btw, the gasket between the carb and air filter has routes for the primer, this will cause this as well if the gasket is torn, leaking or broken)

In all my machines you will find the 30W inexpensive Walmart house brand. Been using it for 18 years, change it annually (filters every 2 years), and have never had any problems.
