Is there any reallt difference between Troy, yard works and yard machines lawn mowers, which is better? Help?!

we received some gift ccertificates as a housewarming gift to Canadian Tire (for a lawnmower) and we are having a heck of a time decided which brand to get, they have some excellent deals on yard works machines but I have never heard of them and I am having trouble deciding whether to go with the Brand name (which is considerably more expensive) or the Yard works Self Propeller mower which is on sale until tomorrow for about 40% off.

Sounds like you are talking about a push mower. Look on the sides of the mowers. Most of them will say MTD or made by MTD. MTD makes most of your cheap brands of lawnmowers and most all of them will have a Briggs & Stratton engine. What people don't realize is there are different grades of Briggs & Stratton Engines. I would look at a John Deere, Toro, or mower that has a Honda engine on it. Those three brands should last.

this mower is a 14hp OHV with snowblower attachment

I have a yard machine lawn mower question. I need to figure out what is wrong with it?

I have a yard machine lawn mower. Here's my problem.!
It won't start. This lawnmower is a self propelled version. It has a lever you hold to the handle that when you release it cuts the mower off. And has another handle you pull to get the mower going forward. The mower won't start. The last time I had this problem I moved the lever rapidly that you have to hold to keep it running, And it started. But it took alot of moving the lever till it finally would start. Now it won't start at all. I checked and it's getting fuel, But no spark. So I don't know if what ever that lever goes to is the culprit and is a cut off switch that is not allowing spark to the plug, Or if my Magneto shot. Can someone tell me how to check what is wrong with it so I can either repair, or replace the right part. I am a mechanic. And can fix almost anything. But I haven't worked on a lawnmower in a long time. Can someone please steer me in the right direction.

The safety cut off switch which is the lever that you are talking about would most likely be the culprit that is cutting off the spark to your engine i would try to remove the cable and pull on the cable with a pair of vice grips and try to start that way to confirm that the cable is working or not then i would trace the problem with the lever from the handle down to the motor.
if this does not lead you in the right direction then it may be the switch itself that is not working and not the cable.

How do you adjust the blade height on yard machine lawn mower?

How do you adjust the blade height on a yard machine lawn mower?
Do I need tools?

One does not adjust the blade on a mower. You adjust the height of the wheels. There should be levers that you push in to unlock the brackets and that will allow you to move the deck up and down as desired.

information on yard machine lawn mower?

i purchased a yard machine lawn mower less than a year ago and has had problems with it ever since i started using it do you have any information on yard machine products of quality mine is a model 420 series.

My husband purchased one in 1996, second time he mowed with it, it flew out of gear, into a higher one, threw him against a pine tree, and broke his pelvis. He now has a 12" plate and 8 pins in his hip. Piece of junk. Another friend had one, he was mowing, took time out to in and eat lunch, looked out in the yard and it was on fire. Best thing that ever happened to him, at least he was inside the house when it happened.

Should there be limits on the use of yard care machines like lawn mowers?

Just like water restrictions?

If what you are doing infringes on the rights of no one else, then it's no one else's business. However, yard care machines can and often do infringe on the rights of others.

For example, the engines used in lawnmowers and leafblowers are notoriously high polluters. In urban areas with significant pollution problems, curbing the use of these engines can make a real difference in air quality. For asthmatics and the elderly this can make a huge health difference. Instead of forbidding the use of such machines, mandating proper engine maintenance and regulating the time of day that such equipment is in use can be an option that still provides major public health benefits.

Also, many of these machines are extremely loud. As such, most of them are already regulated by noise ordinances -- if your neighbor decides to run his commercial leaf-blower at 3:00 a.m. he's probably violating the law!

Other limits can include the use of proper safety equipment (such as mower guards) to protect passerby from being struck with flying debris.

So should there restrictions? Of course, but how far those restrictions should go is a matter for public debate to balance the rights of the property owner to use the equipment of their choice in maintaining their property with the rights of the public to a clean, safe, healthy and pleasant environment. There are few things that we can do that really affect no one else, so it's all a matter of give and take.
