its a 12 hp briggs and stratton engine.. it starts right up but when you try to lower the blade or let off of the clutch to make it move, it just dies. i need help.
yes ive turned the throttle up. lol

If it starts and runs well until you do something with the blades, then you might try the following:

Check to see if there are any obstructions around the blades such as a stick or maybe wire wrapped around the spindle(s).

Check the belts to see that they've not become dislodged and are properly aligned.

If that doesn't help, there is a PTO that runs the blades, it may need to be serviced.

Pulleys may be frozen up or need grease.

Engine has lost power, have the carburator checked. Spark plug serviced. (or replaced).

Otherwise, it looks like the "authorized" repair shop is the answer.

I just fixed it. It was not the gas that was the problem.

My lawn mower, "Weed Eater 21 B&S 550 series will not work. When i pull the starting cord, it begins to start, but dies as if the gas is not getting through or something. Yes, the lawn mower i have is a gas engine one.

how old is the gas? it could be bad. try draining the tank and putting in some fresh gas.On top of engine there should be big flat head screw. take that out and remove air filter and voila' there is your carb

I read that they do.

Horse power for horse power, they are much worse polluters than modern automobiles. The small 2 stroke engines that power weedeaters and blowers are the worst.

I accendetally put gas oil for the weed eater in my lawn mower can someone tell me how I can fix the problem? Any suggestions or did I just ruiened my lawn mower?
