Hi there, we are about to buy a lawn mower , we have used two and four stroke petrol mowers , but we were wondering if we should look into the cheaper electric and rechargeable mowers , if you own one let me know if your happy with it E.T.C thank you.
The ones that plug up.... well, they are great for SMALL yards... very small yards.... that cord isn't cheap and you can easy run over it cutting it, and or trip over it..., not to mention you might experience a tangling problem...
Battery powered almost the same way.... good for a SMALL yard..... since the batterys can't really handle big yards... and the taller and tougher the grass... the less run time you will get out of them.... that and the batterys are not cheap.. and you'll probably end up replacing it every 2-3 years.
The upside is..... no oil to change, needs no gas of course.....
While your regular old cheap 3.5 to 4.0hp pushmower, costs around $100-$150 and can last up to or around 10 years with good maintenance on a rather big yard... cheap to fix and cheap to replace... downside is of course the maintenance.... oil changes regularly.... gas, and winter storage (making sure you have fresh, stabilized gas) etc.....
This is my rechargeable lawn mower . I charge it using solar panels I bought from Harbor Freight . I#39;m making an attempt to rid myself from ...
So far, all I've seen are these little 15"-20" rechargeable push mowers (the battery-powered ones, not the corded ones), so I was wondering if there are any riding lawn mowers with batteries that can be recharged (I know there are rechargeable forklifts, so I would think there would be a rechargeable riding mower somewhere). If there are any of these, where can I find them and how much do they cost?
In the six years in the OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) industry, I have yet to see a electric riding mower. I do know that Wheel Horse sold one back in the late 70's But they did not sell well and were hard to maintain. The biggest problem is the cost of the batteries. I hope you can find what you are looking for.

Comfort "V" Handle, with Cushion Grip, Soft Touch Operation - with Easy Fold Handle
Single Lever Height Control 1-3/4-Inch to 3-3/4-Inch
I am thinking of buying one, and would appreciate some input from someone who has used one before. Thank you...
We have had a battery operated lawn mower for two years and are very happy with it. We have almost half an acre to mow and the mower will do about 2/3 of it before it runs out of power. It's nice that way, you have an excuse to stop mowing. It recharges in about three hours.
Price:
$199.95
$195.99
Can be recharged up to 900 times
Charge level indicator lets you quickly see how much charge is remaining
Weighs only 4-pounds
What charger do I need for the battery>
NO! It is important to use the right battery, especially rechargeables. If you use one with too high of an AH it could damage the mower at worst. At best, the battery wouldn't work and you'd be wasting money. Check to see if there is a Batteries Plus, Radio Shack or similar store in your area. They have a lot of battery types. Also try the store you got the mower from if you haven't already.
What should l look for when buying a cordless electric mower?
You need to purchase one with a name brand. If you ever need to have it repaired or get replacement parts, you want one that you will be able to do so.

OhGizmo! » Archive » Neuton CE 6 Rechargeable Lawn Mower
By Andrew Liszewski
In my mind they’re definitely a sound of Summer, but gas-powered mowers are noisy, messy and of course produce harmful emissions just like an automobile. But an electric model that’s tethered to a power cord can be problematic too, particularly if you’ve got a large piece of property to maintain. So the Neuton CE 6 seems like a better alternative since it provides all of the benefits of an electric mower, like being quiet and clean with no engine emissions, without the hassle of a long extension cord trailing behind you. It uses a removable, rechargeable battery with 360 watt-hours of juice that should be good for about 1/3 of an acre, or for about an hour, depending on the grass conditions.
The Neuton’s battery takes about 12 hours to recharge, which could be problematic if you run a landscaping business, but it should be a non-issue for homeowners who only cut their lawns on a weekly basis. Now the Neuton CE 6 will set you back $499, but the rechargeable battery should last for about 5 years, so when you remove the cost of gas, it might be worth it in the long run.
