I know...I don't want to cut the grass too short and cause it to die.
I just want to know whats the safest, but shortest position I can apply to my lawn mower.
THERE WILL BE THREE POSITIONS FOR SCREWING THE WHEELS ON. I ALWAYS USE THE MIDDLE HOLE FRONT AND BACK FOR THE SAFEST AND BEST CUT

I own a 9 year old craftsman 6.0 mower and though it works well the front wheels keep on bending outward - sort of duck foot like. I bend them back but it keeps on happening . Any suggestions for remedies ?
I'm not sure how the wheels are mounted but if t6hey're mounted on a plate that attaches to the body of the mower try drilling a couple small holes in the front of each plate and attaching a wire to keep said plates from bending out.
I have never done this and the lawn mower I inherited is too low for my grass and the motor cuts off. I mashed the levers on the side of the wheel and can't get it to budge either way.Help! I know it is silly, but I can't help it
how new is the mower? what brand? I know on my craftsman the lever on the right manually raises and lowers the deck. newer mowers may have hydraulic lifts...on john deere try inside lever on left

It is a power mower.
The wheels are adjustable.
It's designed to be able to go over more irregular lawns and through higher grass. If you have a lawn that's bumpy in it, it's easier to push down on the handle of the mower to lift up a little and avoid getting the mower stuck or so you can put it down on a high patch of weeds more gradually so you don't kill the engine.

Pack Rat Workshop: A wasted afternoon or I hate lawn mowers!
I spent the entire afternoon trying to move one lawn mower engine to a different mower base. I had one old one that was given to me that supposedly worked that I found out the crankshaft was broke on. It does have a base in good shape though so I figured I could move an engine off another one I was given a few weeks ago where I was told that this engine works but the base is rusted out. OK, now I had a good base so I started taking bolts off the other engine. The first one came right out without a problem. The second was rusted pretty good but after heating the metal around it some and adding some penetrating oil ( four cycles) it finally loosened up and came out about 30 minutes later. The last one was the killer....
