Putting A Lawn tire back on the rim?

I put a tube in a 15" tire for my riding lawn mower. However I cannot get the tire completely back on the rim. I know there is a way to do this with a block of wood and a vehicle but I am not sure the particulars. Can anyone help me get this half on half off tire back on the rim????


My husband just had the exact same problem. A friend put it back on with a tire iron and screwdriver-2 screwdrivers would work that's just what we had lying around. He used one screwdriver to make sure the part on the rim already stayed on. Then pry another bit over with the crowbar. Move the screwdriver so that part stays on...pry another bit over the rim...til its done.

    First, you will need a spray bottle filled with water and dishwashing liquid. Sudsy water is what you want. It is best to remove the tire from the mower. Air up the tire completely and spray your water solution all over the tire paying special attention to where the tire and rim meet. The sudsy water will show your leak.

    Once you find your leak, the next step will depend on where the leak is. If the leak is around the rim where the tire meets, you must break the tire down. To do this remove the valve stem, put the tire in a vise with the jaws, right next to, but not touching the rim. Close the vise jaws until the tire unseats from the rim on both sides. Take a wire brush and clean the perimeter of the rim on both sides, where the tire touches and seats on the rim. Take a shop cloth and wipe the rim clean and apply grease all the way around the rim, on both sides, just inside where the tire meets it. Reinstall the valve stem and re-inflate the tire and this should fix that problem.
