My battery is low on my Snapper lawn mower, (U1-7 battery).
I want to connect cables to my truck battery and the other end to the lawn mower battery to charge it. Is this okay to do?
Most informative will receive "BEST."
12 volts is 12 volts regardless of size.
You may create a problem with the charging circuit on the mower if your battery is considerably discharged and the battery draws a lot of power as it recharges.
The standard charge circuit on a riding lawnmower is not designed to recharge batteries. They are designed to "maintain" battery voltage.
You may burn up the alternator on the inside of the flywheel if you don't charge the battery first.
I recommend using an automotive battery charger to fully charge you battery first.
Then check for a blown 15 amp fuse behind the instrument panel.
My old faithful Bedini SSG is again restoring batteries. This old lawn mower battery was bone dry inside and no longer taking a charge. It was ...
Why do the batteries in battery powered lawn mowers only work for like five minutes and then you have to charge them again? I want to quit using gas powered mowers, but I don't want to deal with wire clutter, nor deal with the hassle of having to charge the battery ten times while cutting my grass. When are they going to improve these batteries?
Not sure what quality of products you're investing in...
We bought a house and have both a battery operated mower and trimmer. The lawn mower I can do 3 or 4 times cutting the back and the front before charge. The trimmer I can do twice, but I have two batteries so I can just swap on the fly if it dies.
However...if you let your grass grow 'out of control' and try to cut it, it sucks the battery life. I found that out when returned from vacation.

I have an 85 Honda Big Red 250 with a shot battery. The ATV repair shop said that if I put a lawn mower battery on it, it will eventually mess up my starter and/or alternator. Is there any truth to that?...or is he just trying to sell me one of his? The 3-wheeler is like 22 years old, and I don't wanna put that kind of money into it.
Check and see if the batteries are of the same voltage output.

I have a Black & Decker 19" cordless mulching rear bag mower, CMM1000. I need a replacement battery charger, where online can I buy one?
You just need to get in touch with Black & Decker (link posted below). Did you lose your charger or did it stop charging? The early versions of the mower were recalled because of the charging circuit inside the mower blowing out (and sometimes catching fire). There are instructions on how to determine if you're covered under the recall but I can tell you that if you look on the metal decal on the rear of the mower you will find embossed into the metal a "level" number. Levels one thru four were recalled and you get new charging stuff free!
Totally ignore the people telling you to use other chargers! They don't understand the mower you've got and their advice will destroy (at the very least) the 24 volt battery pack!
edit:
Decided to add some details on the charger for this mower. The part you need is *not* the charger, the actual charger is built into your mower and (looking inside with the cover off) is located next to the 'key' circuit board or built onto the 'key' board depending on what level (version) of the mower you have. The big black 'wall wart' (transformer) is just to supply power to the charger and changes voltage and amperage based on signals sent from the actual charger. That's why it has three wires-one is hot, one is common ground and the third is signal. Also all level 4 and newer mowers have a thermal breaker mounted in the battery pack! Attempting to 'hot shot' charge the pack off non-standard chargers will blow the breaker and you get to also replace the pack (It's epoxied between the two batteries that make up the pack).
Just so you know I've been using this model since it first came out (and the deck/key were green not orange). I sold my first one to my next door neighbor when I moved. Bought a new one around 1999 and used it until it was destroyed along with everything else in a house fire (caused by a candle-not the mower<g>) in early 2005. My current one I've had since August 2005 and weekly mow my 3/4 acre yard with it (front in the am, charge until dusk and then the back). This has got to be the best mower ever made-no gas, oil, plugs, filters etc. Just unplug, shove the key and GO!
Ok my bicycle has dual 55 watt fog lights on there i use at night (there VERY bright), and i was wondering what i could use that is self contained on the bike to keep the battery charged up?
Also i have a battery charger but i dont wanna be dependent on it for my bike lights.
for 29 dollars at Northern tool you can buy a solar battery charger that puts out 1.8 amps during the daytime. If you can park your bike in the sun or just the battery and charger...I have used this system successfully on 12volt boat batteries for years...but it is just a trickle charger

Green Mowers the Way to Go | Organic Insecticides | Organic ...
Considering the obvious difference in size between a lawn mower engine and its counterpart in an automobile, it’s pretty surprising to read: running a machine for one hour can create as much air pollution as driving a car 350 miles. That’s a pretty weighty contribution to carbon emissions and the problem of global warming in the 21st century.
On average, reports Geoff Cummings on Grow a Green Planet.com :
There are 50 million people mowing their lawns each week in the U.S.electricity.
A battery-driven, solar-powered, cordless mower is a relatively inexpensive way to keep a lawn well-tailored and cut out greenhouse gases by a significant percentage.
And given the long-term benefits of doing so, any extra financial cost that going green may require is an ultimately small price to pay for a safer world.
