Are Husqvarna Lawn mowers good for my garden?

I recently saw in a review site ( http://www.husqvarnalawnmowersreview.com ) that they were the best lawn mower of 2007 and that they are also competitively priced. Has anyone used these previously? Are they really worth buying?

Just to let you know, Husqvarna makes the Sears Craftsman mowers. Tractor is not bad, but their mower decks leave a lot to be desired. This comes from working on them in our shop. One other thing is to look at the source of your info. Husqvarna will pump themselves up as much as they can. As well any manufacture should. We have found Simplicity has the best cutting deck, and are easy to maintain.

What is the reputation of Gravely Ariens lawn/garden mower tractor equipment?

How good are they and how are their Zero Point turn machines for longevity. Have a John Deere 314 that cut 3 acres+ of grass and hauled since new in 1979 and engine lasted 27 years before being rebuilt becuase it was burning oil.
Stopped into Gravely Ariens and just wonder how good they are. Still will never sell the old deere but just wanted to know thinking on another tractor.

I never gave much thought to mowers until after I bought the Gravely for my Mom to help out (after my Dad passed on). Years passed and I purchased their property, with the Gravely included of course!!, this is the main reason for my manual request. Now that I have control over the Gravely I can FINALLY 'BABY' IT ! It has helped mow my previous 3 acres(incuding 1.25 mile jaunt to/from), my mom's 2.5, my brother-in-law's unlandscaped 5, and helped on my Uncle's 4 acre campground every summer for the last five years, some of it, being abusive.

I lucked into buying the Gravely from a retiring Doctor by pure chance. I was amazed with it's construction from first sight. The Gravely was built like I would build one, very sturdy! Even after experiencing the ease of moving from one season to another, ie: mower deck to push blade / snow blower / garden and back to mower deck, I am still amazed. Everything was built very sound with preventive, and consant maintenance in mind. I was and still am, very impressed.

My brother-in-law spent big $$$$ three years ago on some Toro front "super mower". EVERY year since he has had to borrow the Gravely for half a summer because of Toro mechanical failure! Now they want to roll their lawn with the Gravely . This year I will implement one of my Fathers favorite quotes from Will Rogers; "People's mind's are changed through observation, not argument." I can only be an advertisement to those that are willing to see the obvious.

The only mower that comes close to my Gravely is my one brothers John Deere. We mow our Uncles campground together and even he admits that the Gravely is far 'better' ("Wow,real steel!" he said ), it mows smooth, level! Easier access to the deck, motor, greasing, oil etc. than his Deere (although understandably, he said it in private, afraid of loosing 'brownie points' with his wife & father-in-law-haha!)

Put me down as a satisfied customer, very satisfied. How about this slogan "Gravely; the next best thing to not having to mow your lawn." or "Next best thing to having a nephew that's wants to play your new video game!" ~HA~

I am already saving for the next Gravely mower, although ... come to think of it... why would i!!!!

When do Lowes' and Home Depot disount their lawn mowers for the end of the season? sometime after labor day?

I could use a newer one, and I know the should be discounting them soon. Anyone here work for one of them? Is there a certain week they reduce their lawn & garden stuff to make way for Christmas?

3 point hitch, plows, disc, and tires for small lawn and garden tractors?

I have 20 acres of land behind my house I can use for gardening and small livestock, such as chickens and rabbits. I am a welder by trade and I want to build a 3 point hitch for a 12 HP lawn mower to plow a large garden. I can do the fabracation but I would like to buy the plows and the disc and build the racks for them.
Does any one know where I could buy them and what size I should get?
The mower has 18" x 9.5" on 8" rims. I have enough room to put tires on it up to 24" X whatever, and I can cut the hub off the ones I have now and fab up hubs to fit the axles. Any ideas on where to get the tractor lugged type tires at a good price.
I am disabled and the check is very big so I need the cheapest things I can find that will work.
Hope some one out there can lead me in the rigth direction.
Thanks for the help.
I thank you all for your answers, but it doesn't seem anyone understood the question.
I understand the chance of tranny failure. I am or was a small engine mechanic for several years. I also know how to not punish it too much. I may plow only an inch per pass until I get what I want, and even if I do break it, I only paid $150 for it to start with and can replace it with a a used 18 HP lawn and garden for $300.00.
I admit that a tiller will do a lot better job than a disc, after it has been plowed and I very well may build me an attachment to hook a tiller up to the mower if the disc doesn't work, but I have used disc on a larger tractor in the past, after it was turned and it did well.
As far as the amount of land I want to work, last years garden was about twice the size of the first years. The only thing that slowed me up was being able to till as much as I wanted to.
I need to know where to get what I need at the best price I can get it at.
Thanks for the replies.

There should be some old farms around. They should have some of those old 2 and 3 bottom plows you can pick up cheap. I know we have 4 of the old ones on the farm here. Some PTO and some not.

    Ride on Mower

A Ride on Mower is not just for the country gent or Lord of the manor who has several acres of lawn to mow. Yes of course it is for those with a large garden but it is not as much a luxury item as you may have thought.

The key is of course to buy a ride on mower that suits your purpose, which is primarily the size of your garden. If you have less than an acre of lawn, you will only need a small mower, which of course means that for a larger garden, a larger mower may be required.

In this buying guide to Ride on Mowers , we look at the various options you have when buying a petrol driven lawn mower, and also help to identify the best places to buy them from.

Ride on Mower Buying Guide Size of Garden

One of the first considerations is the size and shape of the cutting area, whether this be a garden, grass verge or field. Buying the widest cutter may not be the most practical option if your mower needs to cut around intricate areas like gates, kerbs and trees.
