Whats the best zero turn lawn mower for my budget?

I have a little over/under 3,000 dollar budget. I would like a deck width of atleast 34'' and up to 42''. I know the toro at home depot is a good buy and is ranked high by consumer reports. Is there any dixon, exmark, hustlers, etc for under 3,000? Also does anyone know a website for used zero turn lawn mowers besides craigslist and ebay?

I've seen John deere zero turns for 2999 at Lowes. I personally would never buy a John Deere but for a small budget they are a good buy.

Electric riding lawnmowers are hardly "green." Sure, if your electricity is probably marginally cleaner than burning your own gas. But riding mowers in general are about the very worst energy hogs in the world -- worse per hour than hummers.

Unless you're plugging it into your electric solar panel, this will still probably be the most polluting item in the house. I'd also love to see someone plug it into a kill-a-watt and seeing exactly how much electricity -- and dollars -- they are spending for their 80-minute mowing time.

Really, is there a market for this? People who think green should be letting their lawns grow.

we could grow a garden with the lawn space, and get a-plenty of wondrous veggies, and spend times with friends, family and neighbors in the good old outdoors, or we could let the lawn grow long long long and scythe it twice a year as ive seen done with large lawns in switzerland, or buy some sheeep and let them graze, scythe and keep what they dont eaat for the winter, and you've got your own meat and wool, or some to sell. there is a-plenty all around if we conserve energy (like not keeping lawns) and actually spend energy where it will return in plenty (like the ideas above).
