Why doesn't my Honda lawn mower start after replacing crankshaft?

I replaced a crankshaft on my Honda HR216 Lawn Mower and now it doesn't start. What did I do wrong? Replaced the spark plug and the air cleaner to no avail. HELP. With all this rain I will have to get a few goats to keep my lawn in good shape.


Check the timing! The most common mistake when reassembling a honda!
Bring the piston up to "Top Dead Center".
Remove the camshaft pin.
Align the "Horizon Lines" on the cam gear along the edge of the head.
Reinstall the pin.
Replace the cam cover.
Congratulate yourself on a job well-done!

Are Honda lawn mower engines easier to start than Briggs & Stratton?

I'm shopping for a mower for my mom. She's fairly small, so I'd prefer to get her something that's easier to start. Are Honda engines easier than B&S, or are they roughly the same?

I'm also curious if mowers become harder to start as they age, if you have any knowledge about that.

my experience is Honda engines (no matter what piece of equipment they run) usually start first-pull...even after sitting for long periods of time (as opposed to the more stubborn B&S items). AND they usually keep running (longer than B&S could ever dream of). the extra $$ is usually worth it in the long run.

honda or huffy what will it be beside a wasted lawn mower.?

If I put a honda lawn mower motor on my bicycle how do I register it.


It also depends on the cc's. e.g. in Missouri under 50cc's you would be fine but in Florida you would not. I assume your mower engine isn't over 50cc's. lol

How do I turn on the GCV160 Honda Lawn mower?

Okay before you say I'm stupid it isn't mine and the one I have at home is completely different. It has the clutch at the handle bar, the cord that you yank up on and a "choke" lever and a small valve with a picture of a gas pump and an X going over it that you can twist, with OFF printed above it....

Does the choke lever have a pumping action? In other words, when you turn the lever back and forth, does it feel like you're pumping something? If so, the way to start that kind of engine is to turn on the gas and pump the choke about 3 times and pull the cord hard and fast. It should start instantly. If not, pull the cord hard and fast several times. If still not, try pumping the choke some more. Be sure it has plenty of gas. If it still won't start, it probably needs a tune up.
