Honda lawn mower

new honda!

i just picked up a self proppeled lawn mower (honda) mower?

and it starts real easy one pull but the blade do not spin so what could be wrong with it

I have a honda mower also. They have a clutch that controls the blade. Unlike most mowers the blade does not turn the instant the engine starts. You have to pull the lever. It could be that the cable controling the clutch is out of adjustment. You should be able to adjust it near the lever. It could also be that the clutch is bad, but they last for years. I have never messed with the clutch on mine so I don't know anything about them. Try adjusting the cable. You might want to drain the oil, so you don't get oil everywhere, and tip the mower and make sure that the clutch controls are moving with the lever. Make sure you put oil back in it.

How long has Honda been making lawn mowers?

(self-explanatory question)

I honestly have no idea, but I remember we got our Honda lawnmower in '87 or '88. So at least that long!

Why doesn't my Honda lawn mower start after replacing crankshaft?

I replaced a crankshaft on my Honda HR216 Lawn Mower and now it doesn't start. What did I do wrong? Replaced the spark plug and the air cleaner to no avail. HELP. With all this rain I will have to get a few goats to keep my lawn in good shape.

Check the timing! The most common mistake when reassembling a honda!
Bring the piston up to "Top Dead Center".
Remove the camshaft pin.
Align the "Horizon Lines" on the cam gear along the edge of the head.
Reinstall the pin.
Replace the cam cover.
Congratulate yourself on a job well-done!

Are Honda lawn mower engines easier to start than Briggs & Stratton?

I'm shopping for a mower for my mom. She's fairly small, so I'd prefer to get her something that's easier to start. Are Honda engines easier than B&S, or are they roughly the same?

I'm also curious if mowers become harder to start as they age, if you have any knowledge about that.

Thanks!

my experience is Honda engines (no matter what piece of equipment they run) usually start first-pull...even after sitting for long periods of time (as opposed to the more stubborn B&S items). AND they usually keep running (longer than B&S could ever dream of). the extra $$ is usually worth it in the long run.
