I'm debating on whether or not to go with the old school non gas lawn mower...you know all metal ones you see on Leave It To Beaver and My Three Sons? LOL. Anyway, I've been told by a friend of mine that they are effective in that, they don't leave long grass clippings and that they cut every bit as well as a regular lawn mower. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of this?
I actually used one for several years, and they work really well. You can buy them at Sears which is where I got mine. They are so much cheaper than a gas powered mower, and so much quieter., and there is no stinky gas or gas fumes to deal with. They are also quite easy to push, and actually kindof fun to use. The clippings left on the ground are good for the soil. The only cons that I can see, is that if you have a really large yard, it might take a little longer to mow it, also you can't let your grass grow too long, because it will be more difficult to cut, and the clippings will be long-and you may have to rake them up. I don't believe the old school mowers have any sort of mulching abilities to take care of long clippings (but you can get a little container that sits behind it to collect clippings, I believe)
A short video of the lawn mower on wodden pellets. There are no petrol in the tank. And fuel-hose is disconnected. Next step is to make a good ...
I noticed that this lawn mower i have only has a opening for gas ... i couldnt find an opening for the oil ... Is it possible that this mower doesnt require oil at all or do ALL lawn mowers require oil and so since i dont see a separate opening for oil, that i must do some kind of mix with the gas (oil and gas mixture)? Or is it possible that some lawn mowers dont ever requiring oil?
In one word, YES, all need oil. But I different ways. Many older mowers are 2 cycle. (Meaning, mix the oil with the gas) Due to the EPA fewer 2 cycle are being mfg, so I am advised.
If you are certain there is no oil filler hole with either a 2 pronged plug screwed in it, or some of the real old ones had a cap screw, with usually a 9/16 head on it.
If you still don`t trust your self, look on the underneath side of the mower, for a cap screw that is there to drain the oil out of the crank case of a 4 cycle engine.
And then there are those persons that would either read the instruction Manuel, or take the mower to the local shop for advise. But of course that would be admitting defeat.

How much gas is needed to fill a full tank for a lawn mower?
It depends on if its a riding mower, or push mower.
Push mowers usually hold less than a gallon of gas. Riding mowers can hold from 3 gallons and up depending on size.

No I mean how the engine works and if it differs from a car engine
the gas vapors are ignited in the engine by the spark plug, with pushes the pistons, which are connected to the crank shaft. As this action happens many times, very fast, the crankshaft turns, which is attatched to the blades...so the blades spins and cuts the grass.
I found out that the cap on my gas can was missing and that the screen that normally filters the gas of contaminants before it gets poured into the lawn mower gas tank was torn, allowing contaminants to get into the lawn mower.
My gas powered lawn mower would not start. I tried using some carbeurator cleaner with carbeurator removed from engine and cleaning gas line too and spraying into gas tank from the line and into the top of the tank and then using a funnel with a filter screen to filter the contaminants from the gas, refilling the gas tank with the cleaner gas.
It only starts when I spray directly into the out take of the carbeurator now and only for a few seconds til it runs out of that gas supply.
Something is still plugging the line apparently or else I have "bad gas". I was wondering if there was a "sock" in the gas tank that catches debris that could have clogged, and how to clean that? I might have to take tank off lawnmower and get some detergent in i
It is very uncommon to have a filter in lawn mowers to catch debris.
What you describe seems to be a fuel cut off so I believe your logic is proper.
Some mowers have a needle valve or shut off valve - perhaps some debris collected by it and this caused a plug.
Some carbeurators have a shut off valve in them somewhere too so check there.
I would check the line from the fuel tank to carbeurator and make sure it is not plugged either.
Finally, could it be that the choke does not open after the engine warms? Perhaps you are opening the choke lever but it is not connected to the actual choke. In this case, when the engine warms enough the choke needs to be opened to permit enough air to sustain combustion for a warm engine. If the choke does not open, the engine can stall. Check this as well
I hope this helped.

Home Decorations: The Pros of Solar-Powered Lawn Mowers
Keeping the environment sustainable is one of the ongoing rants of people all over the world. Faced with problems that stem from lack of environmental care such as a depleting fossil fuel resources, climate change, and global warming, a number of people are turning to alternative sources in efforts to do their part. Among of which is the use of solar-powered lawn mowers. Many people are now replacing their conventional gas-powered mowers for solar-powered ones because of the advantages the practice brings. Solar lawn mowers obviously get their power from the sun. Such system eliminates the need for gasoline to run the equipment. No gasoline means decreased amount of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide. Solar lawn mowers, on the other hand, produce little amount emissions of such gasses and really poses almost no threat to the environment. Lawn mower makers such as Solaris are currently designing and making their own lines of solar-powered lawn mowers to cater to the demands...
