Whats the best zero turn lawn mower for my budget?

I have a little over/under 3,000 dollar budget. I would like a deck width of atleast 34'' and up to 42''. I know the toro at home depot is a good buy and is ranked high by consumer reports. Is there any dixon, exmark, hustlers, etc for under 3,000? Also does anyone know a website for used zero turn lawn mowers besides craigslist and ebay?


I've seen John deere zero turns for 2999 at Lowes. I personally would never buy a John Deere but for a small budget they are a good buy.

Exmark mower....?

My husband and I are looking to purchase a new lawn mower and he is interested in the Exmark mower. We have a pretty large area to mow, therefore the 60 inch cut wouldn't be a bad thing. It's just a LOT of money in my opinion. Does anybody have any "pros and cons" for me about this mower?

HA! Can't believe I spotted this.
I own a lawn care biz.
There's a LOT of variables about just saying an Ex-Mark.
Sitting or walk-behind?
Belt driven or hydraulic drive (IF walk-behind)?
Let me post a couple of thoughts, and you may mail me for details.
For reasonably level terrain, go belt drive to save about $1000 on the unit.
The E-Z control system on walk-behinds is FABULOUS.
Choose a Kawasaki engine over a Kohler for durability.

    I have a Exmark Turf Tracer with a 23 hp kohler motor. When I start the mower in the morning and engage the PTO everything works PTO, engine, etc. But then when I shut the PTO off after completing one property and then I continue on to the second property I turf the PTO back on for the second time in the day, the PTO doesn't work, nothing, no blades moving. Then when I shut the lawnmower off after finding out that the PTO is not working and try to turn the engine back on, the battery is dead and the battery doesn't have enough power to turn the engine on. Has anybody had similar situations as mine? Does any body know what is causing this problem? It seems to me like the battery is not getting recharged while the engine is on. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced- Dan
