Nope it will not hurt the engine itself. If you have any moisture in your tank or carb the ethanol will separate from the gas and mix with the water and cause all kinds of problems. It will eat at all the rubber hoses on the fuel lines if they are not ethanol friendly. If you have some older fuel lines that are beginning to crack you may would be ahead to replace them. Use a fuel stabilizer because if the gas sets there to long it will go through what is called phase separation where the ethanol will separate from the gas. The biggest trouble is water it will really separate and make a mess.

Murray, Inc. Lawn Mower - Model 20406x9B with B & S Engine. Filled gas tank and all gas began to drip out right by the little hose/plastic or rubber leading to the engine. It emptied the gas tank.

it's ether 1/4 inch or 5/16 inch standard fuel line hose you can buy at the auto parts store it's not the high pressure hose just the standard fuel line hose it's sold by the foot

i got good gas mixture in it, new gas, er spark plug is ok
i'm guessing it's the carb, how do i clean the carb?
any easy solution to start my mower?

It all depends on the age of the mower and the amount of usage that it has had on it. From what you described, it sounds like you take good car of it and have the proper fuel in it. We often have trouble getting ours started, just due to the darned mower itself. One thing you can buy to help you get it started is "Starting Fluid". It gives it a kick to get it going. I would say prime it the recommended amount, spray starter fluid into the air intake (as directed) and then pull start. If that doesn't work, you will have to take it to a small engine mechanic, because mowers often have too many little problems with them to fix yourself.

So I have an industrial technology final tomorrow and on it i'm going to have to label some of the main parts of a small engine (lawn mower primarily). Unfortunately during this demonstration in class i was spacing out and don't remember anything about small engines. Do you know where i could find a good diagram online, or could you tell me the main parts and maybe i could piece them together? I REALLY APPRECIATE IT! thanks so much!

Oh, and have any names off the top of your head about some of the tools one might find in a shop class?

I was mowing my front lawn and it just froze up and shut down. Now the mower is locked up and i cant pull the rip cord. Can it be unlocked or is it DOA? There was no smoke or loud bang.

there usually isnt smoke or a bang. its from lack of oil or dirty contaminants in the oil. it can be unseized but it will be more expensive than just buying another one
