Hi there, we are about to buy a lawn mower , we have used two and four stroke petrol mowers , but we were wondering if we should look into the cheaper electric and rechargeable mowers , if you own one let me know if your happy with it E.T.C thank you.
The ones that plug up.... well, they are great for SMALL yards... very small yards.... that cord isn't cheap and you can easy run over it cutting it, and or trip over it..., not to mention you might experience a tangling problem...
Battery powered almost the same way.... good for a SMALL yard..... since the batterys can't really handle big yards... and the taller and tougher the grass... the less run time you will get out of them.... that and the batterys are not cheap.. and you'll probably end up replacing it every 2-3 years.
The upside is..... no oil to change, needs no gas of course.....
While your regular old cheap 3.5 to 4.0hp pushmower, costs around $100-$150 and can last up to or around 10 years with good maintenance on a rather big yard... cheap to fix and cheap to replace... downside is of course the maintenance.... oil changes regularly.... gas, and winter storage (making sure you have fresh, stabilized gas) etc.....
I am thinking of buying one, and would appreciate some input from someone who has used one before. Thank you...
We have had a battery operated lawn mower for two years and are very happy with it. We have almost half an acre to mow and the mower will do about 2/3 of it before it runs out of power. It's nice that way, you have an excuse to stop mowing. It recharges in about three hours.

Variable Speed Self-Propelled System adjusts to your ideal mowing pace

What should l look for when buying a cordless electric mower?
You need to purchase one with a name brand. If you ever need to have it repaired or get replacement parts, you want one that you will be able to do so.
Price: $399.99
Removable battery enables use of additional batteries for cutting larger properties; includes Energy Star rated charger
19-inch deck size; weighs 72 pounds
1-touch adjustment quickly changes height on all 4 wheels simultaneously
I need a nice mower. Are the electric ones any good? I don't really want a gas one. I've noticed that there are corded mowers and also ones with rechargeable batteries. Our lawn and our yard isn't that big so I wouldn't really mind the corded ones, but how do they function in comparison to the gas mowers?
Any recommendations?
What kind do you have? I was looking at the corded black and decker one.
Ive been using electric mowers for over 25 yrs, black and decker best ones,i also have a homelite from home depot.Pros its quiet and requires no repairs, but a blade sharpening every couple yrs.Cons you have a cord and cant use when its raining.make sure you buy one with a button to adjust height on all 4 wheels at once.

The Neuton CE 6 Lawn Mower with rechargeable battery » Coolest Gadgets

Although it would be great to have the robot solar powered mower that takes off and mows your lawn for you, plus the perk of it being eco-friendly. However, it’s a bit on the expensive side, so it’s not something that most people can afford. For those on a tighter budget, this battery-powered mower might be the better option. It has the perk of being quiet due to being an electric mower, but doesn’t have the obnoxious extension cord to deal with.
The Neutron CE 6 is one of the larger of their electric mowers and cuts a 19” path in your lawn. The mower specifies that it is only ideal for those with a lawn up to 1/3 of an acre. Which is about 15,000 sq ft. Anything above that and you’ll have to recharge the battery to finish the job. Although it does come with a spare battery, so even if it does run out, you can just switch batteries and continue the job. To purchase the mower it will cost you $499 .
