Honda lawn mowers set the standard for what a lawnmower should be, with outstanding features, great value and exceptional performance. This video ...
I am real confused with mowing, I just bought my first honda mower and I want to know what is the exact hight on the mower to put place and start to cut grass? What height do you set your mower to cut your lawn? I dont want to scalp my grass that is why. this is my frist time mowing.
thank you
My grandfather always said "mow low in the spring, high in the summer". Cutting the grass short in the spring helps thicken the grass and makes the roots go deeper, but leaving it tall in the summer helps it retain moisture and keeps the soil cooler. Don't ever move the wheel adjusters lower than 2/3Rd's of the way down unless you are trying to kill the grass. In the summer time, move them all the way up. If you have St. Augustine grass, you might consider not mowing in the summer at all. Just a few times in the spring, then once in the fall. This is the latest trend in water conservation in the South.
I have it set at the lowest possible setting, but it is not cutting the grass. What the hell? Could it be possioble that the blades are not turning, or engaging.
Please reply as I am not mechanical at all.
When you are standing behind the running mower you have to push the yellow plastic button down and hold it down BEFORE you push the drive bar forward. Then you will hear the blade engage. If you push it down after you move the drive bar forward the mower will move forward but the blade will not be turning. Its a safety feature, you see you can't reach the blade without letting go of the lever (which stops the blade) so people who are "not mechanical at all" don't cut their hands off.
I'm looking to buy either the Honda HRX217HXA or the Toro S4 Super Recycler 20092. Does anyone have any input or suggestions?
Go for the Toro. It has a 5 year warranty along with a 5 year Guaranteed to Start guarantee. Plus with the Personal Pace self-propel, it is the easiest to use. Toro out sells Snapper in my shop 20 to 1. Honda is overpriced.
Bought a Snapper 1 year ago and it's been in storage..... while in storage cats snapped the pull cord that starts the engine. What is a fair cost for this?
Or should I just buy a new Honda mower at Costco for $400?
You can pick up the replacement cord for $10-$20, and can actually install it yourself if you chose to take on the task. I'm guessing but it should only be about 30 minutes to install.
Good Luck!!!
The Lawn Tractor Versus A Riding Lawnmower by Mike Selvon
Unlike purchasing a car, you are not able to test drive a riding lawn mower before you buy it; however, the selection process for both are similar. If you are considering the purchase of a lawn tractor because it can be more powerful and efficient than a riding mower, then begin by deciding what model you want, what features are important to you and how much you can afford to spend.
Also, just like cars, there are several different types of models, including rotary, reel, battery, gas powered and electric lawn mowers. The tractors also have a range of different models from those that simply cut grass to the more expensive models that have all of the "bells and whistles." Not only are there several models, there are several different manufacturers as well.
If you are looking for a machine that does not have a great deal of extras but does get the job done, then consider checking out the Murray lawn mowers. They have a good selection including their lawn tractor and are considered very reliable by most. There is one point that may be a drawback for you and that is that if something does need to be replaced, then you can only replace it with Murray mowers parts, as no other brand will fit.
