Craftsman 2 Eager-1 lawn mower belt is not moving?

It just stopped all of a sudden when I was mowing the lawn. Took off the cover thing over the belt and when I restarted it, it wouldn't move. Model num. 917.37360 Please, I'm not a mechanic so simple terms?
Oh yeah, it's self propelled and the front wheels won't move.


Belt could be off pulley, or the key (small piece of metal bar that holds pulley to shaft) either broke, or came out. Remove the drive pulley from the mower bottom and check that there's a key fitted in the slots of both the shaft and pulley.
If the key is broken or missing, you can get another from Sears by giving the model #. Easy to install. There's a right-side-up, and you know when the pulley slides on easily when you have the key in the shaft slot, and lined up with the pulley slot.

replacing riding lawn mower deck belt?

Help. I removed my deck, replaced the blades and put the deck back on. Unfortunately, I can't get the belt around the pulley in front between the wheels. Is there a trick??? It is an older craftsman riding lawn mower.

Some of the Murray built lawn mowers require you to pull up the steering column to be able to get the drive belt around the engine pulley. In any case go to the Sears site and see if there's a PDF file for intruction manual, It should give you a hint on replacing either belt.

can some1 send me a link to look at a diagram of a craftsman lt 1000 belt assembly?

i took the belt off but cant get it back on ... i need the diagram of the belt assembly both of them, or a picture under neath the lawn mower. Craftsman LT 1000 thankyou..


Look under the left foot rest, there is a diagram of the belt there. You have to look towards the rear of the foot rest between the mower deck and the rest. I just looked at my LT 1000 and it is there. There is also a diagram for the mower deck belts on the front left of the mower deck. If yours doesn't have the diagram, I have the one in my owner's manual that I can send. It is pretty lame but it gives the basic idea of how it goes.

    I couldn’t remember what was wrong with this Craftsman LTV/10 lawn tractor, so I figured I would see if I could get it to start, but quickly found out it’s 10HP Briggs & Stratton engine had no compression. Just listen to it! I don’t need a gauge to tell me it has no compression when it sounds like that! It was about then I remembered where it came from. We bought it for $35 at a swap meet a few years ago, drove it about 150 feet, and it abrubtly died. The motor is fixed now, it ended up being a burnt valve.

    weird, my dad had the same exact tractor as that (he bought it new) that had a 10hp Tecumseh engine. We only got rid of it because the tranny blew. it still ran perfect. Come to think of it, so does my 1973 toro pushmower with the tecumseh (dad got it in 1975)…has only had the head gasket changed. We also have a 1981 toro 421 snowblower with the Tecumseh engine and it runs great (starts on the first pull too) and has its original spark plug to this day. I’ve had good luck with their engines.
