my tranmission pully keeps coming off my troy bilt lawn mower. whats causing it?

i have all new belts

If the pulley is attached with a bolt or nut, replace it right away. That includes any flat or lock washers. If you don't see any kind of washers, then they were lost the first time you lost pulley.
And spend a few extra bucks on a small tube of RED Loctite, red is the "permanent" version.
Check for worn spots and "wallowing" that will cause a chronic problem where the pulley is supposed to stay.

self-propelled lawn mower belt loose?

I have a Troy-Bilt self propelled lawn mower which drive belt loose and came off. I put it back, worked for a while and then the lawn mower had to be pushed very hard. I think the belt is not good anymore. Where can I buy a new one? how much it costs?

Go to:

and select Troy-Bilt. As long as you know the model of mower you have, you should be able to find & order it there. Good luck !

Hello, Does anyone know how to replace a belt on a Troy-Bilt walk behind, self propelled. Model 12A 446A011?

The drive belt slipped off, trying to get it back on. Pushing the lawn mower to cut my lawn not nearly as fun as having it prople itself

whether this is a rear or front wheel drive model, you should just be able to life off the cover. there is a tension that is operated when you pull the handle. when that is lose, your belt should slip off or on relatively easily. otherwise yes, a screw driver might come to some assistance. just use caution as to you don't want to bend the pulley leading to future issues! good luck!!!

  • my troy bilt self propelled mower runs too slow... - JustAnswer

Ok, this is one of those personal pace mowers... as irony would have it i have 1 also i use for my own lawn.. yes i would have to wonder about that cable.. as that would effect it.. on the back of the mower underneath the flap where the bag unit goes.. there should be a model # there.. did you use that number when getting your parts? if not i would say chances are they gave you the wrong cable as there are about a half dozen different sizes.. see what you can find out about that and let me know.. if the #'s are both OEM and both are diferent.. then they are infact different sizes..If the cable is right then the belt is to big.. i recommend swapping out the belt and see if that changes the performance.. i dont believe you have any problems with the gear box for or gearing being that the unit worked as it should before the replacements Disclaimer: Information in questions, answers, and other posts on JustAnswer ("Posts") comes from individual users, not JustAnswer; JustAnswer is not...
