It could be one of two things : either the drive belt is way to worn to move the tractor or the transmission has internal problems.
When its running, see if the transmission pulley is rotating ( in neutral) - if the belt seems to be 'flopping ' around quite a bit, then its a possibility it needs to be replaced or it couldve slipped off .
Transmission- well if its internal, the cheepest way is to replace the trans- with the tractor off and rear wheels off the ground, place it in gear and turn the wheels- see if the transmission pulley turns . If the wheels have a hard time turning, then its either internal or the brakes could be stuck on. The brake caliper assy is on the gear shifting side right behind the rear tire. The little 'wheel ' on the side of the trans is the brake rotor - this should rotate with the wheels turning.

The price of this used mower is $1700, but they'll let it go for $1600 cash. I've found a lot of listings on line but there doesn't seem to be a tride and true price. Can anyone help?

John Deere seems to have a good reputation. I looked at one last year, but when with the one at sears for about $1200. I found a coupon and a sale! It has worked great and I have no problems with it. For that price you could get a new one and even up the warranty.

i need to fig. out how to put the belts on my mower i bought a 1997 cub cadet yard bug lawn mower with out the belts on it .what i nead is how they go on thanks

Just one note, I don't think that the Yard Bug was a Cub Cadet model, I believe it was made by MTD. You can check their website for a dealer, and the dealer can print one for you. By the way, do not use aftermarket belts, they don't fit right and will not last as long as oem. And they are not that much cheaper.

I have a Rubbermaid 5 Gal Essence gas container. The plastic spout is broken in the middle. Therefore it leaks when I pour gasoline into my lawn mower. I called Rubbermaid and they have discontinued this product. It was listed on the gas container as a Rubbermaid Specialty Product. This is a old polyurethane gas container. Bought approximately in 1996-1997. The essential screw om spout is polyurethane also. I have looked everywhere. It is still a very good gas container. Can you help me. I hate to throw it away.

Have the same can, from about the same year, that spout will crack after a while.... its best to go to say, walmart, ace hardware, lowes, etc. and find a universal gas can spout.
