Unique Mother's Day gift ideas?
The EZ Gazebo

My dad and I usually get my mom a bouquet of flowers, but this year I want it to be different. I don't exactly know what she wants because she never tells me or shows any interest in any products. When I ask her she responds, "I don't want anything" or "I just want to spend the day together". Of course we're going to spend the day together! :) I do want to hear your guys' thoughts on any cool and unique gifts. She loves to garden and decorate our house, if that helps.

Thanks for your help!!

buy her someone she loves like maybr chocolate or something else other than flowers :D

ideas needed to complete a unique housewarming gift- please read . . .?
Garden Groom Pro Self Bagging Electric Trimmer

I am preparing a housewarming gift for a friend- she is planning to have a garden and likes to do some canning. She has most of the main supplies she needs - so far I have a basket - I am putting a book with some canning recipes in it- I would like to put about 6 canning jars in the basket but I would like to put something in the jars - any ideas for what to put in th jars would be greatly appreciated, I am also including a hanful of seed packets- besides what to put in the jars, what else can oyu think of that owuld make this basket complete??? Thanks in advance for any creative and useful ideas

If you are putting jars and seed packets in the basket, put the packets in the jars. Also how about gardening gloves, some hand tools like spade, trowel. A welcome sign for the garden. Plant markers. Maybe some bottles of organic pesticides. A bar of tea tree oil soap to wash her dirty hands. Maybe fill in with some herbal seedlings.

Are gift cards appropriate wedding gifts?
Garden Groom Self Bagging Electric Trimmer

I recently received a unique looking handmade wedding invitation from my grandpa's niece whom I haven't seen and heard from since I was 5 years old. We're both in our late 20s and the same age but I'm older than her by 6 months. Since I don't know her very well because we both live in different states, she lives in California and I live in New Jersey, do you think a gift card like Olive Garden,Walmart,Target, etc would be an appropriate wedding gift? I don't feel comfortable giving cash because it's easy to blow it off on useless things. What do you think?
I'm not sure where and if she registered anywhere because it wasn't included in her wedding invitation. She and her fiance have been together for 12 years and have a 9 year old daughter together. The gift cards were just an idea I came up with and I plan on spending $50-$100 on it.

I'm sure there are going to be answers from people who think that gift cards are not "personal" and therefore inappropriate gifts for weddings (or other occasions for that matter), but I have a different opinion. When I got married, I received actual "gifts" from everyone and many of them have gone unused to this day. I personally would LOVE to get gift cards so I could use them to furnish my house or buy things that matched my tastes and needs instead of someone else's. I don't think gift cards are any less personal or that the person giving them didn't want to take the time to go shopping - I feel as if they are being more generous in letting me pick out what I need.

And it depends on the person getting married, too - if they are older and already have a house, then perhaps gift cards to restaurants or something else would be appropriate. If they are younger and have never had a house, then gift cards to home stores would be better used as they will probably need more household items.

Easter Gifts?
Garden Groom Self Bagging Electric Trimmer

I asked a similar question earlier, what to have my 3 year old neice and 6 year old nephew make their grandma for Easter, I got a few good responses and have decided to go with what I had thought about in the first place-a stepping stone.

Now my question is what could they make their aunt? She isn't really into gardening so I want something different then a stepping stone but yet I want something special and unique. Can't wait for everyones ideas!

I have nieces and a nephew similar in age to yours, and I would absolutely LOVE a picture frame for them, especially one I could put on my refrigerator. We have a thing in our family of keeping photos on our refrigerator of each other and I would love having something my nieces and nephew made for me like that on display.

I would also really like to have a drawing or painting framed and matted to hang on my wall. Doesn't have to be expensive or super fancy - you can get what you need right at the craft store.

And one of my favorite things we have is a double frame. On one side is a photo of my husband holding our niece right after she was born, and on the other side is a card with her newborn handprint. You could do something like that with the kids.

If she's not into gardening, maybe she'd like a potted plant for her porch or for her house. You can pick something up, and get a plain planter pot that the kids can decorate for her.
