I want to take the Chia herb garden as a gift to my friend overseas but can I take seeds on a plane?

It depends on where you are going. You'd need to find out what the seeds are (what herbs) and then contact the agricultural department for the country you are going to and ask them if the seeds are allowed. Not all countries allow all plants.

I am wondering if the chia herb garden actually grows like it shows on tv.
Someone put it on their gift list and I'm wondering if its a waste of money or if it grows. Thanks!

I actually received a chia herb garden as a present a few years ago. All the herbs grew like mad. I set the pots in a south facing window and watered them almost daily. By the time planting season came I planted them in my garden and they thrived. Hope this helps.

I thought it would be a nice mothersday gift. I also need to know what herbs are best for a hanging basket. And how many different herbs can I have in one average size hanging basket. Thanks for your help i'll choose a best answer as soon as I can.

the basics are not just attractive in foliage, bot useful in the kitchen.Of course they will be still small by mother's day and depending on where you live ,will have to be kept inside until it warms up.Purple basil,green basil,parsley,thyme(drapes nicely)but be mindful it attracts bees.tarragon,chives and oregano are wonderful selections.That's agreat gift!

i am looking to buy presents for my whole family on a teenager's budget. my mother likes to cook with herbs and i was wondering if this would satisfy her needs as far as cooking goes and if it would be an easy gardening experience for a working mom (is it easy to grow). i live in NJ, my house faces north and my back porch is shaded by trees. is it able to be grown in a window? planting on the front porch or in the ground is a no go because of the relentless deer, it would have to be in a pot or container. im not even sure what im getting myself into.. where would i find this herb garden kit, it would have to be a brick and mortar store.

The kit in this link is probably too expensive. You could make your own for a lot less money by attaching clay pots in a similar manner with clear latex caulk and buy the seeds. You would have to buy seeds on line I doubt if any stores have them at this time.
