I was thinking a weekend trip to a nursery or something near springfield il or st louis but am not sure what greenhouses around here are good.

How about a nice big basket, the size she could take into the garden to put her gear and any produce in, and fill it with new hand tools, seeds, gardening gloves, and maybe a gift certificate to her favorite garden store--if a nearby garden center doesn't offer them, Lowe's has great plants and a lot of gardening supplies.

My grandfather (who adopted me at birth and I call him "father") is turning 75 years old shortly after Father's Day, and he is very active physically. He singlehandedly grows a 2 acre vegetable and herb garden, grows peach trees, loves to BBQ, hunt, fish, and he's very intellectual. He loves military history, and discuss you tired with current events. He also loves a good drink and very kind and loving to cats and dogs.
