We are having a Vegetable garden this year. We live near Midland, MI. It will be a 1,000 Sq. feet garden but we do not have a whole lot of money. How can I get free Soil, mulch, Compost, manurer, tools, seeds, plants and anything like that?
First ask co-workers who own homes, homeowners always have stuff they want to get rid of. Also in the local papers at the beginning of the want ads they list the free stuff and you can also list what you're looking for. Don't forget the hardware store has all that stuff also and if you know anyone there they can help you, sometimes the bags of the stuff you need break in transit or even at the store, tell them not to throw it away and save it for you. Plants you can get from the nursery again some get messed up in transit and they get rid of them. Last let the neighborhood know what you're in need of. And last you can ask at your church. good luck.........Tell me how you make out.

You'd most likely be dealing w/ customer complaints and/or questions. Taking calls, answering questions, troubleshooting assembly issues possibly. Just my thoughts.
Why settle for just straight or bi?
Isn't it time for an OMNISEXUAL sexual preference on those HTML forms??
Most forms wanting to know if I am a male or a female have no relevance to what gender is tweaking the computer knobs!!!
It is absolutely stupid, and an invasion of privacy to even ask most the questions on most forms! So, what most of my friends do is put garbage into the forms!

I would like to have electric power in a garden shed located 100 feet from the house.
How do i go about this? I want it for lighting and to run a desktop computer but not planning to use power tools.
Thanks
Since the introduction of Building Regulations Part P, you must employ a qualified registered electrician to install any electrical wiring and equiptment within or outside your home. Sorry this will cost but its better to be safe than sorry.
I need a checklist of basic tools and supplies and if you know the easiest vegetables to grow in an organic garden...thanks iin adavence
Hopi Indians used a stick but I think you'll need more than that.
Shovel or spade for turning the soil. A steed rake for breaking up soil clods and leveling the soil. A trowel for digging holes for planting already established plants. Seeds can usually be hand set. Gloves to protect your hands. Markers to show where and what you have planted. Watering method(s) your choice: hose, watering cans, sprinkler head or drip system. Hoe of some type to manage the weeds. Then plant specific support systems such as for pole peas and beans, tomato supports.
Easiest: radishes, bush beans, pole beans, summer squash unless the squash bugs find you. Carrot seed is pretty fine and tricky to plant. Beets are better. Turnips if you eat them. Corn is easy but you need multiple rows .......plant in blocks of plants, for pollination.
What are you using for fertilizer or soil ammendment. You need to prepare the soil first with compost before planting. Since you are going organic, then you'll need to supplement with organic fertilizers such as seaweed meal, blood mean, bone meal, cottonseed meal or whatever is available in your area.
Mainly you need more research than what you will get here. Find some info from Rodale Press.........they are the grandparents of organic gardening. Check your library.

How to Make a Garden in Berkeley for FREE: Part II « Broke-Ass ...
But my absolute favorite thing that they do is house BASIL (The Bay Area Seed Interchange Library) , which is pretty much the coolest thing ever. Basically, you go sign up and “check out” whatever seeds you want for FREE with the promise that you will attempt to let those plants go to seed and “return” some of the next generation’s seeds at the end of the season. The seed exchange operates on good faith, so don’t bother taking if you don’t plan on giving back. Read about the extremely important and timely reasons for participating in BASIL on their website .
The staff at the Ecology Center is very knowledgeable and helpful, and can help you find information (in their own handouts or in the library) on gardening, seed harvesting and drying, and anything else you might need to know. Their fact sheets alone could answer almost any question you might have about gardnening/sustainable living/the environment.
The Ecology Center Open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-6pm
