Where can I buy ornamental garden Buddha statues?
Layer Marney Tower

I want to buy a 'different' present for my husband for Christmas and am trying to get a Buddha ornament for the garden. I've tried looking on the Internet but can only find small ornaments for indoors or very expensive granite ones for the garden. I don't mind paying up to £80 and would prefer a wood or resin one, and it has to be the fat happy Buddha type I live in Gloucestershire, England. Anyone out there able to help with this request? It would be very much appreciated.
This is for Kendeas H. Don't know the Buddha in Only Fools and Horses but if you watch Coronation Street there is a Buddha in the bit that comes before every show - he rubs his belly. One like that

Does anyone know the name of the artist who carved the religious statues for architect A. Hays Town?
Weathered Pair

Louisiana architect A.Hays Town used religious niches carved from wood and set against tile, in the gardens of many of his homes. Does anyone know where to find these niches?

Try searching here;

or ask here; Situated adjacent to the original 1967 University Art Museum (a replica of an antebellum plantation home designed by Louisiana architect A. Hays Town), this new museum building serves as a backdrop to the original and defines the edge of a new sculpture garden and plaza. The 33,000-sq.-ft. program includes lobby and public spaces, permanent collection and changing exhibit galleries, museum offices, archival storage and art support spaces. http://www.louisianacontractor.com/proje cts/04_Bestof/judgesAward_design.asp
One of the sites within this answer should be able to help you further with your question.
If it is at all possible to obtain these niches, a Replica, I doubt seriously that you would be able to obtain an Original due to it's historical value, the Univeristy or the Alumni should know.

The Heymann House was built on East St. Mary Boulevard near UL Lafayette for Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Heymann. It has a rich history and is one of Lafayette's most recognized landmarks.
The alumni wing today houses the offices of the staff of the Alumni Assocation and is located behind the Alumni House in the Alumni Courtyard. It contains six offices, a conference room, a lobby and a workroom complete with mailing equipment, fax machines and copier. Yet to be completed is the second story of the wing and is currently used as a storage area for the Association’s archives, event supplies and numerous props.

How can we repair weathered bamboo wind chimes?
Jardin Botanico, Buenos Aires

We recently moved into a house we are renting, and the previous owners left TONS of garden statues, tools, and miscellaneous decorations in the backyard. We threw most of the stuff away, but my husband wants to keep the bamboo wind chimes we found. They have been hanging in the sun for a very long time and are quite weathered. The wood is very dry, and one piece of bamboo is actually split. Is there a way to clean and oil it or something to make it look nicer without disrupting the sound it makes? A stain, maybe, to protect it from more damage? I have moved them to a shadier spot, but would love to make them look nicer if possible. Thank you!!! =)

All you need to do is visit a store that sells lots of spray paint and check to see if there is any spray stain in the inventory. Choose your color. And you can also use clear finish spray also. I have bought both kinds in spray cans to use on cabinet hardware and still looks new after 2 years of service.
It's much easier to spray round surfaces than to use a paint brush.
Gook Luck, it should be an easy task.

A fantasy book I can't remember the author or title of... help!?
Statue di legno

This is a fantasy book I read when I was in elementary school which I remember really loving. Unfortunately I can't remember the author or title, and only about half the plot. Oh, and that the cover has some sort of ornate landscape on it with mountains in the distance, with a girl leaning against a window frame (or a tree?) Can anyone help me? Does this sound familiar to you?

What I remember:
-The main character is a young girl
-her family is poor or in some other way impaired, and she lives in a small village at the edge of a forest
-in some way the country is being oppressed by this power in the mountains, a witch
-She runs away into the woods with the intent of helping her family, taking only a knapsack with some food and takes a little bronze (or wood?) statue from her house
-Along her quest: the bronze statue comes alive in her pocket and in some way becomes her companion
-She finds a frog in a pavilion or small garden house and the water is stagnant, and he talks to her and tells her something useful
- This part I remember very VIVIDLY: She has to cross a field/valley full of sharp rocks and she has to cross carefully not to fall and hurt herself. Finally she loses hope and begins to cry, and her tears melt smooth FOOTPRINTS IN THE ROCKS that she can follow to get through it
-At the end she confronts the witch somehow on a mountaintop, and the snow is in patches of many different colors

There's more, vague details i remember, but these are the only specific ones. I would really appreciate some help finding this book! thank you!

Who said these quotes from 'The Hiding Place' by Corrie ten Boom?
Astoria "Tara" Mansion 100

I just need to know what characters said each of these quotes from the book..Thanks SO much to anyone who has an answer!

1. "there is One Who has them always in His sight, Lieutenant Rahms. Jesus is the Light the Bible shows to me, the Light that can shine even in such darkness as yours."

2. "You say we could lose our lives for this child. I would consider that the greatest honor that could come to my family."

3. "All the watches in your closet are safe."

4. "It's such a beautiful house, Corrie! The floors are all inlaid wood, with statues set in the walls and a broad staircase sweeping down. And gardens! Gardens all around it where they can plant flowers. It will do them such good, Corrie, to care for flowers."

And also, if you know of any hidden meaning or explanation of the last quote that would help too!

Oh man... I read this book two years ago.... I should know this.

Try going to sparknotes or look up quotes from the hiding place.

  • Mum devastated by theft of garden statue (From thisisoxfordshire)

A MOTHER-of-two has been left devastated after the wooden statue her children had saved up their pocket money to buy was stolen from her garden.

The seven-foot carved statue of a dragonfly was a Mother’s Day gift to Charlotte Trinder from six-year-old Buffy and 12-month-old Snow.

Miss Trinder loved the gift so much she put it up in her front garden in Donnington Bridge Road, East Oxford, so friends and neighbours could enjoy it. But when she looked out of her window on Saturday morning, it was gone.

Miss Trinder, who reported the theft to police, said: “Some nasty person seems to have come and taken it from my garden and snapped it off at the bottom.

“It is gutting, I am just devastated.

“Snow is too little to really understand, but I had to tell Buffy this morning before she went out of the house and she was crying and saying ‘I buyed you that and somebody’s cut it’. It’s horrible.”

The statue, which cost about £65, was carved by chainsaw artists Krazy Karvers and was commissioned especially for Miss Trinder.
