Wrought iron patio furniture is furniture made by bending, shaping, and welding mild medal wrought iron.

Wrought iron itself has a long history, dating back to Roman times. There are many historical gates built with wrought iron. These include the Gates of Alexander, the Cairo Gates, the Jerusalem Gates, and the Westminster Abbey in London.  New Orleans is full of beautiful wrought iron balconies especially in the French Quarter. Even the Eiffel Tower is made of puddle iron which is a form of wrought iron which has a little more carbon giving the metal greater strength.  The 19th and early 20th centuries were the heydays of wrought iron.  As steel became cheaper and cast iron came onto the market, wrought iron production declined.  Mainline commercial factory made wrought iron came to an end in the early 1970s.  It’s now twice as expensive to produce wrought iron as it is to manufacture low carbon steel.  Today, Wrought Iron Furniture is highly crafted with very artistic ornate designs.
