Will wood glue last outdoors, if I apply a waterproof finish?
My glue is also called yellow glue.
you will need to make sure that after the yellow glue has cured, that it is sealed.
you would find that Gorilla Glue would be a better choice.
www.linkdesignsolutions.com Teak lawn furniture comes from teak wood, which has the scientific name Tectona Grandis. The materials used in making ...
I know it sounds silly. But my landlord dropped off a can of stain w/water guard. Well I didn't read the can properly...After letting it dry over 24 hrs it was still "tacky". It comes off to the touch. After reading the can more thoroughly it says "not to be used on decks or wood lawn furniture" well TOO LATE. It does not say what to do if you do so...
Anybody have this happen to them? If so how did you remedy it while still saving the existing wood? I need to remove as much as I can. I don’t know if I want to strip it, I hear bleach can destroy wood. I am scared of mixing another chemical with it and causing a bad reaction and I don’t want to but a clear coat of water sealant on it yet because I am afraid this oil based evil product will keep it from curing correctly. Please spare me the “you should have read the can” I did not take note to the fine print…I made a mistake, and now I am trying to fix it. Anything would be appreciated! Thanks everyone
Maybe I forgot to mention. It is not going to totally dry...
I'm not sure why your stain said not to use on decks or furniture because I have used that type for several years now. Since it is oil based it will take longer to dry. If you want to make it dry faster then take a rag and wipe off all the excess. Do not try to wash it off. That won't work. With the water treatment water won't take it off and neither will stripper. Give it a couple weeks to dry and then if you don't like the color put another one one over it. The wood will turn darker but there isn't much you can do about that.. By the wood bleach will not hurt wood. It lightens the wood. I use it sometimes to take out burnt marks and water rings when I can't find the chemicals usually used. With the water treatment used it will be hard to change until after 1 year of curing. Hope this helps. I've had over 18 years experience.

I want to build a simple outdoor picnic table and use pine (mostly 2x4) for construction because it is inexpensive. I plan to set it on my backyard lawn, so it will be exposed to moisture and sunlight. Question is, if I stain & protect it, will it last just as long as other higher quality woods like redwood and cedar? Thanks.
The pine, properly stained, sealed, and protected, should last a good long while. Especially important is to guard the footings of the table and/or benches; wherever it comes in contact with the ground, lingering moisture will tend to invade the wood. Likewise, give the table a very slight slant and enough gaps to drain quickly and easily, to avoid any standing water.
However, with equal treatments on various types of wood, pine is still not the equal of redwood or cedar. Cedar, for example, possesses a natural chemical resistance to insects and rot that makes it last considerably longer.
Given how expensive the higher-quality woods are, it might be worthwhile to make a pine table and replace it after a few years, once it starts to decay.

Ok so here's the story I have a 10 month old Siberian Husky/Labrador Mix who I adore more than anything. My dad on the other hand is not so crazy about him. Duke (the puppy) has a chewing problem. When I bring him inside he doesn't chew on anything except his chew bones..Outside though he's a holy terror He chews up lawn furniture, water hoses, plants, fences, wood for our fireplace, basically anything..
Now I understand he's been teething and I give him lots of "chewies" to help and it does..I've tried Bitter Apple, Bitter Yuck , Hot chili pepper, Cajun pepper, You name it I've tried it.
It was recommended that I try a shock training colar which I dittoed immediately.. I don't have the willpower to do that to Dukers.. and my brother would abuse it.. But main thing is we can't keep nice things in the backyard and its pissing my dad off because he really likes having the yards look nice which I understand...so I have got to get Duke to stop chewing........
any ideas? PLZ HELP!!!
I already tried spraying stuff....Didn't do me a bit of good
Prevent how? Saying No works short term but rarely Do I actually catch him doing it he does it when he gets bored or a.k.a. when I'm at work/school
I've heard of the smell thing but once again I have to be around to work it and he doesn't do it when I'm home..and habanaro pepper? My dog eats chili peppers offf my plants....I don't think hot stuff is the way...Listerene might work but I'm worried about whether it might harm him or the furniture..
I actually do like the pen idea.......trust me he has a lot of rawhide...spoiled puppy...I might try the pen thing......I wonder If i can get some kind of shade thing for it...........Do you people think he might dig out of it..I don't need him to start digging
I've been through lots of training with Duke and he does well with it and trust me he knows absolutely who is boss me and my trainer made sure that we established that first thing in classes...I do walk him usually every day unless something comes up to where I can't...I think that your right about him being happy inside because he feels like he belongs...but I really really really really really despise going out in the backyard to play which is why we usually go to the park...
I'm sure that Cesar Milan is a great trainer and after watching his show I do think he is.. but i'm not interested in being pack leader.. I'm interested in teaching my friend how to quit chewing up my dad's lawn furniture
As for the training bit about disciplining him when he does something wrong and only rewarding him when he does something right I completely follow that Duke is a very well trained dog when people are HOME!!!!! It's when we're gone he turns into the holy terror of the dog world
I think there might be something you can spray the furniture with so it tastes bad to him..He needs something to chew on so buy him more chew toys, maybe some rawhide? If you'v really tried everything, then perhaps he should be limited while outside to a certain area. A friend of mine has a fenced-in area within her backyard for her dogs so they dont have to worry about them getting into their garden. Maybe you could try some variation of a pen?
I also have had a problem with my dog but it didnt take too much to get him to quit when I bought him some chew toys. Just as an extra precaution, I would give him a small swimming pool to play in during the day for a distraction and sometimes I'd leave the sprinkler on.
If all else fails, talk to a dog trainer.
I want to bunny proof a room in my house so my rabbit can have free run of it almost all the time. I already have a lot of it figured out: blocking doorways with baby gates, devices to protect wires, keeping chewable things off the floor, all that good stuff.
However, this rabbit is pretty much just a garbage disposal with fur. She will chew anything and everything...the walls, chair & table legs, carpet...she has even chewed on metal from time to time!
I have to somehow prevent her from reaching any wood surface in her room--baseboards, walls, any part of the furniture that touches the ground. I'd like something I can leave in place permanently that would still look ok and not cost a fortune.
Any ideas? I thought about getting some wooden type lawn edging and lining the walls with it, but it's not tall enough. Kind of at a loss!
We replaced our carpet with hard wood flooring. The rabbit does not like it because he slips and slides . It makes him not very sure footed. I have a small rug next to the sliding glass door with the rabbit cage on it. The rabbit uses the doggy door to go in and out of the house. He pretty much stays in his cage or outside as he pleases. He will not go anywhere else because the hard wood scares him. This has solved our rabbit damage problem.

...Wooden Lawn Chairs to Suit Your Lifestyle and Your Budget
Wooden lawn furniture is a classic and timeless choice for your backyard, deck, or patio. But choosing wooden lawn furniture can be overwhelming. There are so many beautiful styles to choose from, and then to top it off, you’ll need to figure out what kind of wood would work best for your lifestyle, space, and budget. Knowing some important information about the types of woods typically used to make patio furniture may help you in your decision.
Teak is probably the most common wood used for luxury outdoor furniture. The basic properties of teak make it very resilient to insects and general decay. All you need to do to take care of your teak wooden lawn furniture is to oil it every once in a while if you don’t want it to naturally turn from honey to a grey color that ends up looking very elegant. If you’re looking for teak patio furniture, you’re going to have to pay the big bucks, however. Teak is not a fast growing tree, which makes it less available and therefore, more expensive. The upside is that teak sets last for decades, so your money goes a long way. Many dealers of teak offer extremely long warrantees. If you’re fickle and want to change your style every couple of years, teak’s probably not the best wood for you.
