I have a wicker table and chair set that used to be used for indoor use. I have gotten a new wood table and chairs and would like to put the wicker set outside on my uncovered patio but I don't want to ruin the set. What happens if indoor wicker is put outdoors?

It weathers very quickly. And not just cosmetically. This causes the wicker to get very brittle and fall apart quickly.

If you're going to put that wicker furniture outside, you should put some kind of exterior grade varnish (like a spar varnish they use for wood fixtures on boats) on it - everywhere, top and bottom - before setting it outside for any length of time.

I have this white wicker loveseat in my living room. I'm pretty sure it's real wicker. I would really like to move it to the patio, but I'm not sure if it's waterproof. Does anyone know what will happen if I expose the loveseat to the weather? Also, is there anyway to waterproof wicker, like with a polyurethene spray or something like that? How would I go about getting that done? Thanks in advance.

yes you can poly it ..i suggest you visit a marine supply store...they will have the best water proofing poly on the market and you can probably do it yourself...cause u will either have to spray it on or brush it on is all

I am restoring an old weather worn wicker entertainment center. Right now i am replacing the shelving and soon will paint it. But i have found my cat chewing on it and even pulling the small wicker straw off it. Is there something i can use to stop him from trashing my wicker?

Citrus fruits are a natural cat repellent So you could try cutting some oranges,limes or lemons and putting them on or around your wicker piece of furniture or rub some lemon juice on it... It should work. Though the fruit does dry up and needs replaced. I don't personally know how the acidity of lemon juice would effect the wicker. You could also distract him by putting cat nip on other toys/scratchers. Good luck!

These are wicker bar stools made for outdoor use. The chair cushions are made of weather resistent fabric and the cushions are permanently attached to the bottom of the chair.
I would like to recover this outdoor fabric with indoor fabric to match my kitchen decor. I need ideas on how this can be done without ability of removing the cushions.

since the cushions are permanant and cannot be removed, the only thing that I can think of is to make slipcovers that can be removed and washed for them or to cover them and staple the new material over the old.

Personally I would do the slipcovers so that I could pull them off to wash easier.

measure your material so that you have an extra two inches around the edge and sew in elastic so that they will gather over the old cushions...

or...wrap them and turn the stool upside down and use a staple gun to attach the new covering to the bottom.

The whole wicker bedroom suit is being given to me for free so I can't beat that but I don't want to put white twin beds in boys room.
can it be removed with paint thinner or something. or do I just need to paint/stain over it. I want it to be a natural brown wicker color? Help

I think you need to paint over the white (if this is truly a natural product like wicker and not a plastic replica) because you'll never be able to remove the white paint - because of all the texture, nooks, and crannies in the furniture. I don't think stain will work over the white paint as it needs wood or wicker bare to be able to soak into the surface of the material. However, there are gel stains available now but I've never worked with those so I can't say whether they'll work for you. Oh, yeah - if you paint the furniture, be sure to clean it well, use a primer, and then a durable paint - boys can be hard on furniture!
