I have black colored cast iron chairs and a table.
I was wondering if there is any way to stop my outdoor furniture from rusting. The furniture is new...just bought a few months ago and it is already leaving a "ring" of rust on my deck where the umbrella stand sits. I thought there might be some type of coating or spray I could put on the umbrella base so that it does not stain my deck with rust. Does anyone know if such a spray exists? It is just watery "surface" rust, which wipes off for now....but I'd like to stop it from staining up my deck! I would think there would be something (like the clearcoat finish on a car) that could be put over the paint. Any tips?

Rustoleum. Use a rubber floor mat under the stand.

I'm looking for outdoor patio or coffee tables for a restaurant, preferably plastic or fiberglass. I need something fairly heavy duty, preferably with a spot for an umbrella for shade. The style outside of In-n-outs is what we're looking for, but preferably a lighter material. Where would I go about finding furniture like this? All help is greatly appreciated!

Set up shop in the front yard or back yard. I've always thought that the back yard is the place for say...outdoor furniture with umbrellas and such. Maybe I'm wrong??? We have neighbors two doors down that basically use their front yard as the back yard. It's weird...it always looks cluttered and messy. They have a table and chairs w/umbrella, a dog house with small dog tied to it (ick), a kiddie pool, tons of toys, etc. Everyone around here has a nice big backyard...I don't get it!

Is it normal to set up shop in the front yard?
Personally...I would feel weird sitting at my patio table having dinner with friends in the middle of my front lawn with cars driving by...LOL!

Trust me...there is no theme or rhyme or reason with these neighbors, it looks dirty. In my neighborhood, our frontyards are much smaller than the back. We don't have porches (which would make sense to have a nice set up). It's just a bit odd. I suppose they could be from some other part of the country where this is the norm, and I should probably mind my business and not let it bother me :D

That's hysterical J. I personally am a very quiet person who doesn't like drawing attention to myself too much so I keep everything in my backyard, neat and tidy.

BUT, I went to my girlfriends house a couple months ago, she had invited us over for dinner. So here I go with my kids ( hubby was working) and she has the patio table right in the middle of the front lawn! I was like "oh my lord"...I sat down ( feeling a bit uncomfortable ) but you know what? It was the best night ever! We ate, drank Alize and had a blast!! Nobody at that table gave a rats a$$ what anyone thought as they drove by. We were laughing and drinking and playing games all night....right there on the front lawn!! Yep, we were living it up like the rednecks we talk about!

I would never personally set up shop on the front lawn, but you know what, as long as you're not hurting anyone, you should just do what you want and have fun. That same night my girls had a ball playing with her children....bouncing on the trampoline ( which was on the front lawn too ), collecting frogs and just running after chickens! So if it's considered white trash or redneck to have your furniture on the front lawn...so be it!!

.. me and my husband have been married for 4 years , since may 20th 2005 .we were 18 when we got married so we are still a bit young . he is a Soldier and for our past 2 anniversary's he was either out of state or in Iraq at the time . I am the type of girl that does not need expensive things , my idea of fun is free and simple inner tubing in the river by our house , riding our horse , playing tennis or softball at the park . I never really ask for anything because i rather spend time with him playing putt putt or hiking than for him to send me to a spa where i would sit and be rubbed on by someone i don't know .. LOL .. anyways when i told my friends what my husband got me for our anniversary they all acted like i should have got more than that , like diamonds or something , i am an outdoor girl and my husband knows what kinds of things I like . For our anniversary we wad a simple dinner out , went swimming , putt putt , and a canoe trip which lasted about all day . when we got home we walked to our back patio where we would always sit on an indoor outdoor rug on the ground and talk . he had a furniture company set up a patio set while we were gone doing all those things . a glass table , 6 chairs and umbrella top . i was thrilled and SO excited . i took pics of it and posted it on my facebook . a few friends acted like they expected me to be mad about it . for my husbands defense i feel like i should say something to them . i don't want them to think he is cheap or anything . he just knows me well enough to know what makes me happy . what should i say to them .
when i say a few friends said that , i mean a few people i know but never really hung out or anything together . they are usually always rude abour stuff when it involves my husband . they also "wanted " me to be mad at my husband when he was in Iraq . and tried to say little things hoping to start trouble .. rrghhh . help me put them in there place !!!

Your gift is nice, the people who criticized it, and your husband are asses, period. All this posting of pictures and getting chummy with complete strangers on the Internet really is a bunch of crap and lots of people get hurt it seems. If you want to use these sites for fun, that is fine, I do too, but to get your feelings hurt over some of these idiots (even me included as I insult sometimes), is just right over the top and really, really stupid.

Be happy you have a nice husband, and that you like doing those things together. My sister and her husband were that way, and they lasted for fifty years, as a couple, liking the same things, and doing the same sort of things that you and your husband are doing. Congratulations.
