Teak is very hard and can withstand the weather very well. The oil puts back the natural oil that gets soaked up by the sun, every couple years or when it starts looking light colored apply a liberal coat. Good luck Les the painter

Yes, as they tend to gather dust (as everything outside) and dirt and spiders and snails. During winter i cover (it does not snow even where i live)everything that cannot be taken inside or into a shed. Plus i put biological insect detergents onto/into the furniture.
During Summer i cover everything too because of the dust. Pillows and such must be taken inside every night.

I did everything right - treated with teak oil - can anyone help with why this would happen and how I can sort it, as the furniture was really expensive and I'm really worried! Thanks in advance for your help.

I would be questioning if this is really teak then. Teak should not mold.

It is really outdoor furntiure, but I am using it indoors. It seems to need some kind of finish, if only a varathane or something. I don't necessarily want to add color to it (like a stain), nor do I want to cover the grain. What's best?

Thompson's Water Seal should do the trick. They even have it in spray cans now. It will help protect the wood from drying out and cracking or getting stained by spills. And if you use the furniture a lot I'd say about 3 to 4 coats of the stuff should do it. They don't have to be heavy coats, just evenly applied. And make sure that your surfaces are really clean before applying, that will screw you up faster than anything.

Black mold is the hardest to remove, pressure washing and then soap with a cap full of Clorox works well.
