I am in need of a dinning table, but just can't spend the money needed for actual furniture stores - I looked at slumberland and Becker, but just can't dish out that kind of cash. Is it worth buying something at Sears, or am I better off getting something from Craigslist that is a quality secondhand?

I would prefer a 2nd-hand solid wood (not veneer) table than a veneer new piece. on the downside, you'll spend a fair amount of time driving around to look at stuff you won't buy. It doesn't matter if it has matching chairs - eclectic is OK.

I have heard sales people work may need to meet monthly quotas. Do they need to go this on the last day of the month? Mid month? Does it even really matter?

I don't think it makes a bit of difference on furniture, cars? now that might differ.

I have an old bedroom set, from approx the 1970s.....my mom had bought it from Sears, its white, french provincial furniture.....is there a website or somewhere I can find out how much its worth? Im selling it and dont know how much to ask......Thanks!
It is a full size bed that was a canopy (canopy broke-but bed posts & finials are fine)
it has a desk with hutch/shelving unit
vanity with mirror
small chest of drawers with hutch/shelving unit
corner unit
is in good condition, drawers work-just needs some gold touch up paint on some areas.....
I would keep it, but have no use for it and I know it will get ruined in storage

Look on the internet at what other pieces of furniture similar to yours sold at. Try to find the average of all the different prices you found.

Sometimes I think it isn't fair that anything that can go wrong with furniture deliveries does to me? Sears and the Brick promised quick delivery arriving the same day. Delivery from the Brick got postponed for three days and Sears delivery got postponed for a week. The Brick delivery finally came but they forgot to deliver the last item and they charged us full. Sears postponed their delivery for three months until we finally got it and our last item at the Brick didn't arrive for six months until we had to cancel the purchase. Does anyone else have these problems?

I have never had any problems. My experiences with Ikea (12 years ago) and more recently Ashley and Star furniture have been great. Hope that you have better luck next time.
