Hi. I want to paint a mural (with a paint brush) on molded plastic outdoor furniture. It stays outdoors all year.
I've tried really good primer, acrylic paint, and a sealer but after one season, it started peeling.
Has anyone successfully painted outdoor plastic?
Primers and paint do not adhere well to plastic - there is no absorption into the material. You can sand ( roughen) the plastic to improve the adhesion of the prime to the plastic.
Just a thought - how about automotive paint? Seems to weather well but not designed for brush application.

I have dark green plastic outdoor furniture which has faded from the sun and has lost most of it's original color.
Any suggestions on how to re-polish and recover it's original colour?
One method that is worth trying is to use a soft cloth with WD-40. It will remove all signs of weathering and produce a nice shine.
The smell disappears very quickly and you'll be pleased iwth the results.

I have tried alcohol which lightened the ink marks and have also tried nail polish remover but didn't seem to make much difference nor did bleach. Any ideas?
ATTENTION: I have found my own solution with some research on the internet. I was able to remove the ink with "Off! Deep Woods Sportsmen" Insect Repellent W/ 30% Deet and a non-abrasive scotch bright pad. It also removes nail polish to my surprise.

For many of us who like to spend time out of doors we want some inexpensive outdoor furniture. Plastic garden furniture is probably the cheapest of all the many different options open to us.
When buying it we should keep a few things in mind. Most importantly we don’t want anything that is of too low a quality. This means making a careful buying decision. look for sources of both low cost but high quality plastic chairs or benches. This is not too difficult to do as there are many online stores that stock low price furniture for the garden.
If possible choose a store that can show you large images of what you are going to purchase. The more you can see of your purchase the better. Many stores have large images available so you can check over the quality and make sure that it looks like it is built to last. No one wants plastic furniture that will break in a few months.
We should also think about color. We are no longer simply limited to white. There is now a massive range of colored plastic furniture available and we should think about really livening up our outdoor spaces with a bright color. This works very well in gloomy areas of the porch or patio. A bright color can really make the place come alive.
