How do I spray paint new, smooth-finish iron patio furnture?

After wiping with liquid sandpaper, I applied color and clear coats but they flake off if lightly scraped. How can I make the spray paint adhere better?


try a primer first so the paint has something to adhere to. Also try rustoleum paint or a good enamel exterior paint.
