Hi there. I love to free hand paint and I would like to paint on plastic tables, chairs, benches, etc. patio furniture.

I know I should lightly sand the surface - making sure it is very clean - and prime. I know that much.

However, I want to paint a design with a paintbrush - not spray paint.

Anyone tried this? Which paint would I use and how can I make sure it will last?

I thought about freehand painting my wood bench. An outdoor Behr paint from Home Depot with a marine poly finish should seal it.

Can you paint Plastic Patio Furniture? and If so what kind of paint do I purchase? and is there any kind of preparation to the furniture before I paint it? and will the weather have any affect on the furniture after I paint it?
I need advice or ideas on how others have done this if this is possible. thank you.

I used the krylon for plastics on some of those cheap plastic outdoor chairs. The can cost around 5 dollars I think might be more. I don't remember if the directions said to but I lightly sanded with a piece of sand paper. Works great no problems.

I have 4 patio chairs that some of the straps have broken. I thought of taping them with duct tape but not sure what else I could do.

You'll need some self tapping screws and washers, and a pan of hot water. Put the straps in the hot water for at least 15 minutes. Once this is done, they will expand and be easier to stretch out a little. Turn the chair upside down and drill a small pilot hole on each side of the frame in an area that won't been seen when the chair is in an upright position. Don't try to use the same holes that were used before. Then remove the strap from the hot water and wrap it as far around the frame as possible without the end being on top and anchor it with a screw and washer. Pull the strap snug and do the same thing to the other side. As the strap cools, it will be drawn as tight as the other ones.

I have looked everywhere..I just want the cheap, plastic patio sets with the tables (w/removable legs) & chairs... I have looked everywhere - Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc. & I can't find them on any of their websites. Do you think if I go into the stores I might find them? Help! Having housewarming BBQ in June & I have nowhere for people to sit outside.

BTW...is it rude to ask guests to take of their shoes when they come in my house? LOL.

Also the larger pharmacy departments like cvs, walgreens, they have them. I got one at walgreens $8 for the table, and $5 for each chair. Go to those stores you will find them.

Also go find some cheap benches for sitting, or some iron furniture. You can look at yardsales. This is the time for yardsales. And it will be cheapest. People usually upgrade and you might actually find seating that might work for you.

No its not rude to ask guest to take of their shoes. Helps to have a place to put the shoes at the front door, like a shelf or something.
