So 1.5 years ago my husband got approved for a credit card.He added me as an authorized cardholder. So he purchased a Plasma TV for a reasonable amount and got Dish Satellite and a rack to hold all accessories TV is mounted and that cost more $.So ball park figure 4 grand. He made 1 payment $500 and asked if I could help advised that I would pay off remainder with tax refund if he picked up and extra monthly bill off me.Now true enough I agreed but when it was tax time I really did not want to give over 3 grand so I did 2500.Shortly thereafter we decided to get married. So we had to pay for trip to Jamaica marriage government fees, excursions while there whatever. He pays most of the bills so during a financial conversation I agreed to pay travel agent monthly to pay off trip.I did notice I was not gaining much ground and deadline was coming I asked him for 600 to help which he gave I still fell short charged 400 bucks. We had a party before we left his parents got all food and drinks. But I wanted a nice environment we had family traveling from out of state to come to our new house. So I charged patio furniture,Caribbean decor etc total maybe 1500.Now all along I am paying Credit company but of course not close to what I'm charging,We went to Jamaica got married and we wanted to do excursions from the resort I honestly had the money in my account but my bank card would not process internationally, but I had my credit card so that totaled 1000 for that wedding week, now we are at christmas time and I have shopped like 600 worth on Credit Card and our airfare for next trip which needs to be paid off in like 10 days which may very well go on credit card. After all that my husband now knows how much the balance is and he is upset as if I have done something wrong and much items were not needed.I feel the only thing I have done wrong was not tell him about credit card purchases.I have not went on shopping sprees nor paid and home bills at all.(he has called to verify)The company told him great payment history,3-4 payment a month.why is he blowing his top like it's delinquent. We have a house nice cars excellent credit that I will not jeopardize what's the issue.Would he rather not gotten married, had a great time in Jamaica, not had furniture for family to sit on,I mean WTF
Well for all smart allecs we have talk not much has changed he is just upset and I don't think he has a right to be.I didn't get upset when I came home and a guy was putting holes in the wall to hang a damn TV.So why can't he be the same way with me.I didn't know he bought the TV.My marriage will last we have sat down and made a plan per cc company 600 a month payment in 1 year debt free, had a great interest rate but they provided a 1 time fee for no interest for the next 2 years sooner if more is paid which we will at tax time again.Let's be honest we all spend what we shouldn't but my husband has a great income sometimes you want something that cost more that what's in the bank. And who would actually drain there savings on patio furniture or a TV.
Well it's not to much to afford. My husband makes about 100K a year. But what happens is it's always something I want and the balance could be paid off in full but how to cover a couple grand being gone in the checkbook registry.Well I guess had I told him the response would probable be better than now cause he's wondering how I let the balance rollover after a year and now we have 318 in interest. He's cool at this point cause he enjoys what I've purchased and done but he is not ok with paying interest. He's gonna call cc company and see if they can credit back interest for full payment and promise to keep card.Yay he's gonna let me keep card. With a promise to never have a balance like this again ever
1500 for patio furniture....Wow! You know you could've bought like 20 white plastic patio chairs from walmart for like 100-150 bucks total.
1500$ for patio furniture is alot, and I dont know how much you make, but seeing as you seem to be buying items that you cant pay off the never next month(like the plasma TV that you had to wait for refund check to come to pay it off), its definately too much for you to spend on patio furniture. I'm sure it looks nice though!
But seriously...you cant understand why he is pissed you spent 1500 without telling him? Why didnt you tell him? is it because you knew he wouldnt want you spending 1500 on patio furniture? Because that would make me blow up if my wife knew i wouldnt let her buy the furniture so she just bought it without asking me first.
P.S. Next time take a pic of the patio furniture so we can see it!! :)

Hand woven ?commercial grade?, pe rattan in espresso color
Strong, lightweight, rust resistant aluminum frame
Uv, weather and fade resistant holds up great in salt and chlorinated environments perfect for coastal living
The area is long and narrow, 8 feet by 23 feet. The long front is screened; the two end walls are beige stucco, like house. Ceiling is white. I'm getting a ceiling fan. I have green indoor-outdoor carpet, a bit worn, but okay.
There's a white plastic chaise lounge with green striped cushion and a white plastic table with four chairs. I have place mats and silk tulips on the table. There's one small white plastic table.
I don't love the white plastic patio furniture, but it's all I can afford right now. I want to accessorize and add some wall decor to the stucco, if possible. But what?
I don't have a green thumb, and I live in Florida. I will add some plants and flowers, but need suggestions.
It's hot and humid here. Fabrics fade and mildew. During certain seasons, yellow pollen lies thick as powder over everything. So I have to be practical.
It doesn't have to look like Martha Stewart dropped by, but I do need practical, inexpensive suggestions. Ideas, please!!
Pick a color and stick to it for flowers and other accessories. Add candles in varying heights to the tables. Hang pictures if you like or baskets with plants. You can buy a couple of the 'basket weave' metal trash cans for around $3.00 each. line them with peat moss and add a tall green plant. Put one on either side of the door.
Add a small throw pillow to the chaise lounge.
You can paint the chairs and tables for just a few bucks if you want a change. (dark forest green?)
Add a cheap rug (sisal), a bowl of fruit (oranges - as orange would be a great accent color for your area), a couple of flowering plants (orange inpatients?) , a table cloth in a tropical print of green, orange, yellow, white, and you have a whole new look.
Shop thrift stores and yard sales.
Hope this helps. :)

Good looking, 55 yr. old VP of construction firm.
He has everything he needs or wants!
He drinks beer (only) and smokes cigars but only a certain kind (gift baskets with various types are not an option - I've tried).
He restored a car, but it's perfected and nothing I could know is needed. ('57 Bel Aire)
He works with tools but owns every type - probably more than one, he's already told me that.
He wears cologne, but can't smell!
He's a freemason, but I've exhausted all gifts that relate
He golfs, but has brand new clubs, bag, shoes, magazine subscr. He already stocks up on golf balls and tees.
He has a brand new computer, and doesn't care for any other tech-related items.
He buys new clothes all the time and hates my taste (he's a bit, um, unstylish)
He's fun - but have jokingly bought him nerf guns, portable videogames and remote control cars in the past.
No hunting or fishing or bowling.
He loves food - but a "meat and potatoes" type of guy - one that already has Omaha steaks deliver all the time.
No sweet tooth.
Will not watch a movie twice, nor tv shows.
He gets gift cards from clients all the time.
No ties.
Renovating the house - well, hired help is
He gardens, but barely. Tomatoes and squash only, I think.
Likes jewelry, but his taste is not affordable.
Doesn't care for sports - goes to some NFL games, but not a true "fan"
New wallet. His type of watches wouldn't suit my budget.
He already has a stack of books he claims to be "getting a start on"
Mom deals with decor. Nothing like that would be of interest.
No work gear and he has a company car. GPS, cell phone and accessories are redundant.
Travels so much for work, he doesn't care to go for pleasure. Travel items - luggage, travel pillows, etc. would never be used.
He's practical.
We have a huge inground pool. Mom buys the fun stuff, and other people come to clean.
We have a game room - likes billards and darts - new balls, cues, chalk-holder even. Table was recently recovered and whole dartboard set-up is new.
Has an outdoor firepit - had two, gave me one- He already have me his old patio furniture that was from this summer, he didn't like it.
He has all the music he cares for, I've tried to buy him some and he either already had it or didn't care b /c he has satellite radio.
Would not be caught dead at a concert.
Does his own lawn, oddly enough. He has all the needs, like mower, leaf blower, weed eater, pesticides...
ANY other ideas? In reality he's fun but honestly has all the necessities. Therefore, I need a unique gift that isn't generic - but must be practical too. He's not a fan of "gifting for the sake of gifting." Also, not religious.
I think all of you have given me some great ideas! Not sure which I'll pick, but I'll def check out some of the websites you all recommended. He loves nice wallets, and his are always getting worn out. As for the classic car stuff, I just have no idea where to begin - he's not the type for "novelty" items like keychains and such, but maybe I could get out of him if he'd like a new gear stick or seat covers - his car is bad-a and I get it eventually!
The utopia beer from Sam Adams is a great idea (I worked at a liquor store all through college and we had the really neat looking metal bottle) for the connoisseur, but my dad likes bud and bud only...
Anyways, thanks for all the ideas - you have helped immensely!
Still, any other novel ideas are still welcome !!!
So he has a fully restored 57 Chevy. You don't put in that kind or time or money into an old car unless you like old cars. There are a lot of places online that sell parts for old cars. They also sell other really neat stuff that relate to old cars. Shirts, hats, keychains, jewelery, lighters, chairs, clocks.....literally anything you can think of. Try them, you might find something there.
