Just purchased an aluminum patio dining set and wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to tie it down, or anchor it. Our area gets pretty windy and the aluminum is pretty lightweight. I want something that won't scratch it, and will keep it from blowing over or away. We were thinking something like pvc pipe, painted of course, because it would keep the chairs tight against each other..... any suggestions?

It gets windy where I am too. I have a swing to keep in my yard instead of in the next block. Garden stakes, they work wonders. Check at your local hardware store.

Which do you prefer? This would be for a dining set in cast aluminum that looks like wrought iron and would be used on a wooden deck (not a patio). I like the look of dining chairs (i.e., with legs) because I prefer a traditional style with my old house, but I'm wondering if swivel chairs would be more comfortable and practical on a deck (no legs to get caught in the cracks). Opinions?
One more thing -- swivel chairs cost about twice as much as dining chairs.

I agree with the person who suggested a mix of the 2 kinds of chairs if you have a table large enough for 6 chairs. If you are just getting four chairs, having them all the same will probably look better. Swivel chairs can be very comfortable for just sitting, but I always feel like I have to lean forward uncomfortably to eat at the table because they tend to tilt back slightly. So it really depends, are you planning on using the set mostly for sitting at the table and eating, or for sitting and relaxing? I've never had a problem with the legs on non-swivel chairs getting caught in the deck cracks--but it is something to consider if the cracks on your deck are wider, or the legs are particularly small. I buy the furniture, pay storage, movers, my fee. The inventory costs between 5-6 thousand (full living room set, master bedroom set, dining set, possibly patio). No other staging services in my central Florida metro area that rent furniture.

What a rediculous question. Nobody can tell you that. If you want to have an indication take the yellow pages in your neigbourhood and try to get an offerte from other companies.

They will not be very glad with you doing that if you do that under the pretense you want to hire them but instead you are setting up a business by your own.

The normal way to calculate fees is:
- what are your fixed expenses (per book-year)
- what are your mutable expenses (so per assignment)
- what is a fair profit margin in this business
- what do other companies charge
