Are patio chair cushions really mildew-resistant? Or should I buy patio table cover and chair covers for my new patio set to use when I'm not using it?

I'm re-upholstering my patio chair cushions. I want to reuse the "stuffing"( fiberfill or polyester batting) but after years of use even when I discarded the original fabric cover, they are full of dirt and dust. They're too big to put in a pillow cover (aproximately 2 x 4 feet and 3 independent layers of 1" thick) The original covers were totally destroyed, so I had to dipose them. How can I clean/wash these without loosing shape. thickness and texture?

You can spray some soapy water on them and wash them out with the hose or in you bath tub. They are outdoor cushions and made to get wet. You will need to try and prop them on the side to allow the water to drain out. On a sunny day they will dry fast. You might have to reshape a little bit when you put them in the cover but they will conform to the new cover. Just handle them carefully. Good luck

I don't know what size these cushions are. If you had the fabric cover you could have washed them in those. You need something to encase them in such as a pillow case or something like that and wash them that way. I don't know from the info you gave if they fit in the washer. If not you'll have to do it in a tub. I would air dry them on a warm day.If they are foam they will keep their shape.Polyester batting however I'm not so sure about. I would just replace the batting myself, but if you want to keep it, just give it a try and see how it turns out.Good luck!!

First time homeowner and first time with a real patio. I was graciously given a patio set with chairs, etc. and they have cushions that are not waterproof. Short of taking them inside or covering them every time it rains, are there any other alternatives? Such as something I can spray on them to waterproof them? Thanks!

You could buy a storage cabinet or box to put them in between uses.

They are not on any of our garden plants, nor our patio table which we eat on for BBQ (even tho the table is covered by the same kinda cloth cover that our lounge chairs are like this)

They are only on our covered lounge chairs which are covered which are metal and have some cushions on them.
they are tiny little bugs no bigger those annoying gnats that fly around in our house.
what are these bugs and how can i get rid of them?
