When sliding the chairs in and out around the table, will the bottoms/legs scratch a painted concrete patio? We are going back and forth on whether or not to buy a new metal patio set and need to know from people who have this situation...ASAP!
Yes, the powder coating and the metal are both harder than the paint. You might be able to glue some kind of slider on the legs though.

I'd like to hear from those who own some and have it by their pool and/or in the weather. Do you like it? Thank you.
An aluminum with a good paint finish is an excellent outdoor furniture. I've had ours for over 10 years and it still looks great.

Hand woven ?commercial grade?, pe rattan in espresso color
Strong, lightweight, rust resistant aluminum frame
I have some very nice patio furniture I want put outside next to the pool. The top is mosaic art,and the rest is a dark iron. Will this rust??? Will the chlorine from the pool cause it to rust? If it can what can I do so it won't rust.
Thanks
It depends on what the metal is... iron will certainly rust outdoors, and this has nothing to do with the chlorine in the pool. If the metal is finished aluminum, it won't rust but there's every possibility the paint or surface color will flake off... that's what is happening to ours and it's on a covered porch. Use a magnet to determine what the metal is.

I live in Southeastern Oklahoma where the ground cracks from the heat every summer. I am going to build a flagstone patio around our inground pool, but I need to know whether it is better to build the patio on sand and crushed rock, or a concrete bed. Or if it's better just to use sand and dirt beneath (for the old-world style, moss between the flagstones look - which would be nice)? However I build this, it needs to have excellent drainage and be an even surface for patio furniture. Also, once the flagstone is set, is it better to mortar between the stone? I don't want everyone getting sand or crushed rock in the pool.
The best way to go is to lay it on top of a concrete bed. However, if you are on a budget you can place it on top of compacted road base (class 2). You can rent a plate compactor for about $40. Either way around the pool you should put morter in the joints.
Our neighbors behind us are nice people. My only issue is they have a bird feeder and while they enjoy the birds eating in their feeder, when they finish the birds come and hang out in my yard. Think Alfred Hitchcock "Birds". This has lead to an increase of bird poo. While right now it's not an issue (it's winter) in the summer it is. Our deck, patio furniture, pool ledge..EVERYTHING is covered in poop. You can't touch anything without there being poop on it. You know it's bad when the dog refuses to go in his caged area to potty bc there is massive amounts of bird poo in there. We literally have to hose everything down on a daily basis. My question is, is there anyway to repel the birds from our yard? Kind of how scarecrows keep crows out of corn fields and there's stuff you spray on plants to keep bunnies out of your garden. I don't want to kill them or harm them in anyway and I realize that I will never get rid of EVERY bird or all the poo. Id just like to see a good reduction of it
In the US, all native migratory birds are protected by federal law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act) and it is illegal to kill or harm any protected bird, so I'm glad to know that you are not planning to use lethal means to reduce the number of birds.
There are ways to repel them, but please ignore the answer about the WD40 - birds do not have an accute sense of smell, so no noxious odor will repel them - not WD40, not mothballs, not ammonia. All that does is poison your environment.
Don't waste your money on fake owls and rubber snakes. Birds are smarter than people think, and they quickly learn that these things are not a threat.
Birds are scared off by motion. Tie old CDs and metal pie plates to your deck and to tree limbs, using bright, glow-in-the-dark ribbon. Put whirleygigs and pinwheels all around your yard. Get plain white or black helium balloons and draw eyes on them with glow-in-the-dark markers or paint, and tether them so that they are below the trees or your deck (wherever the birds roost), but make sure they move slightly in the breeze.
