Looking to have a Saturday afternoon birthday get together for a friend. Hoping to find a sunny outdoor patio/beer garden in Lincoln Park or Lakeview. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I need to be able to get reservations for about 12 people.

The best bar/restaurant with outdoor seating for what your needs are is at Jacks's on Southport. It has a very large and beautiful outdoor courtyard with really pretty lighting at night. A reservation for 12 should be no problem.

I want to open a wine cafe with ecclectic indoor atmosphere and outdoor patio seating that is pet friendly.

I don't know too much about wine,(the good stuff anyway), but with any business it's best to find out if the "need" for it is out there. Do your research... I would think that a person who'd visit your cafe would be on the higher end of the financial totem pole and that means it'd be best suited for an affluent neighborhood... which will raise your start up costs or your rent if you'll be renting a property.... and then there's the liquor license, which I've heard can be hard to get.... I would also think that the board of health would ban animals from any area where food would be served....you may want to think about expanding your vision to encompass a larger customer base, adding a gourmet chocolate counter, or espresso bar...which would surely expand your business hours as well.. It's a great idea ! Good luck with it!

I agree-either pouring a concrete patio,building a wooden one or laying hundreds of patio tiles can get quite costly.Do you have a little money to spare? Have you thought about building a pergola? They are gorgeous,provide some shade and would offer a nice relaxing sitting area,right on the grass.(I have always wanted one of these)...

My husband and I just moved into a new home and the previous owners left a very nice wooden bench that I am planning to place alongside my garden. I would really love an outdoor seating area, but can't afford to purchase a new patio set. Does anyone out there have some creative ideas for building an outdoor table to go along with the bench?

yes...you could put together a table with a large garden urn with a sheet of tempered glass. This makes a nice "coffee table" for an informal seating area in your garden.
