okay so if i have an indoor church wedding i have to pay for flowers and decorations, but if i have an outdoor summer garden wedding i don't have to have flowers, but i have to pay for chairs, so in the long run which is cheaper and easier? i can have the reception on site at the outdoor garden spot, but the church doesn't have a reception hall, or any kind of place to have the reception, so it'd have to be in a different place if that matters at all.

i'm starting to think maybe the outdoor wedding will cost the same as the church wedding after we pay for the chairs, so what are your opinions on this ladies? any experience, which will be easier and cheaper?
i should have added that, i do go to church every week 4 x a week, i go to all the functions, he doesn't ever go to church, but my church is really small, seats 50 very uncomfortably, there are only 30 people that attend regularly, so we don't have that many pews anymore, they removed the ones that never get used to make a big play area for the children in the back of the church.

A garden wedding sounds very, very lovely - if the weather is going to be ok. Reception venue right there too, great!. Why not borrow the chairs from your local community type centre?, or ask the church if can borrow theirs?, sports venue chairs?. I would love to go to a garden wedding, how special!

I'm getting married in June 2008 and I am having trouble thinking of ideas to create a SOPHISTICATED outdoor wedding reception. It would be held on my grandparents' farm. It no longer has animals or gardens, but is still beautiful with many trees, a farm house, a barn, a shed, and 80 acres of land.

Congratulations on your engadgement. It sounds like your wedding is less than a year, so I hope you start your wedding decorating now. If it you want Sophisitication for your wedding, you may want to think about adding layers to your wedding. Like, many tablecloths for one table, different glasses for different reasons (like a champayne glass, water glass), and lots of varying silverware (like a salad fork, and soup spoon). I also recommend you decorate the trees on your land with "Colorful" battery powered lights, in case your wedding lasts for awhile into the night. I also hope you are able to choose your favorite "Colors" for your wedding, and keep a "Colorful" balance everywhere in your wedding decorating. Even though Sophistication decorating is Worldly, I recommend you stay with the decorating of yours and your husband's culture. Especially with alot of the food you serve people, should be the food of yours and your husband's culture and heritage. I have a slim, terra cotta pot that's about three feet tall, and it's a decoration outside in the garden. I was told that such pots heat up to high temperatures in the sun and drastically cool down at night. What kind of outdoor plant lives well in that environment? I was thinking of something vertical like a palm tree, since its surrounded by bushes; or something colorful, if that more pleasantly attracts the eye.

If it is getting direct sunlight then I would recommend putting something in there that is ok with lotsa sun. You did not indicate how wide it is... however a palm sounds good. If you want a splash of color or something floral, then try the lantana. Doesn't need a lot of water and blooms. Spreads out well too.

I always been interested in vertical gardening, I personally think that it's a unique and aesthetic way of gardening and decoration. I just want to ask...

a. What do you think of vertical gardening?
b. Have you ever tried vertical gardening?
c. Do you prefer indoor or outdoor vertical gardening?

I've grown pumpkins this way and it's pretty cool as they take up far less space.
