What is the best material for an outdoor table?
Outdoor restaurant

I see there is teak, mahogany, cedar and glass etc for outdoor furniture tables, which will last the longest and has the best name for quality?
Am i best to buy from a shop or a online store such as one i found at www.outdoorfurnituretable.com

Teak is still the gold standard for wood outdoor furniture. Regular maintenance will insure longevity for what ever wood you choose.

Hi,
The Krylon paint is called fusion, while it is made for plastics it will also work on wood, metal etc. Apply in thin coats for faster drying & a smooth finish.

What type of wood for outdoor furniture?
Cafe

I want to build a simple outdoor picnic table and use pine (mostly 2x4) for construction because it is inexpensive. I plan to set it on my backyard lawn, so it will be exposed to moisture and sunlight. Question is, if I stain & protect it, will it last just as long as other higher quality woods like redwood and cedar? Thanks.

The pine, properly stained, sealed, and protected, should last a good long while. Especially important is to guard the footings of the table and/or benches; wherever it comes in contact with the ground, lingering moisture will tend to invade the wood. Likewise, give the table a very slight slant and enough gaps to drain quickly and easily, to avoid any standing water.
However, with equal treatments on various types of wood, pine is still not the equal of redwood or cedar. Cedar, for example, possesses a natural chemical resistance to insects and rot that makes it last considerably longer.
Given how expensive the higher-quality woods are, it might be worthwhile to make a pine table and replace it after a few years, once it starts to decay.

Can I paint outdoor resin furniture?
Cafe

What sort of primer should I use? I have a white resin outdoor table. I plan to glue mosaic tiles to it. Is it strong enough for that?

Resin is treated like plastic when it is being painted because of its slick, non-pourous surface. Use Krylon Paints for plastic because they are the only type of paint formulated for these types of surfaces.

It really depends on how thick the resin is as to whether it will support the weight of the tiles. Test it by putting your body weight on the center of the table and see whether it bows.

If you do put tiles on it, you will need a heavy duty adhesive that will stick to non-pourous surfaces to glue down the tiles. Something like Locktite, Plumber's Goop or E6000 will work. You have to let all of them completely cure before you start grouting. Therein is where you may run into some problems because most grout is not formulated to adhere to slick surfaces. You may get it to initially stick, but could have cracking and performance issues like chunks of grout falling out in the long run.

Retro table and chairs and outdoor furniture?
Arco Barbie Doll Birdbath and Hearts Table - Romance Playset

We just bought a lake house that is full of 50's or 60's furniture. Everyone seems to be going crazy over it, so we figure maybe we need to sell it on ebay or another website. However we are not sure how much to post it for. The table and chairs are in good condition but the table legs are showing a little age. It comes with 6 chairs and an oval table. Table top and chairs in perfect condition.

There is also a three seat glider and a chase lounger. Both of which are in perfect condition. They have cushions that are perfect not faded at all and the metal is perfect. We are not really into the retro look or we would keep them for ourselves. We thought that we could sell them and put that money towards the remodeling of the place. If you have any idea what these items might be worth, that would be great!

Without actually seeing photo's it can be hard to know. They could be something run-of-the-mill, or something truly worthy. Your best bet is to do some research. You don't want to find out later that you undersold yourself. Although, on eBay, if its something hot the price will climb.
Any easy way to find out if it is something special, is to take photo's and show them to an auctioneer who specializes in mid-century modern for an opinion.
good luck!
