Can I get my indoor couch reupholstered to be an outdoor couch?

It is not a big couch and it is completely fabric covered.

Yes you can and ask for Sunbrella outdoor fabric. It won't fade, it won't mold or mildew and it has a long warranty. Tell the upholsterer that you want to use the couch outdoors so that he will treat the wood frame to be weather resistant and remake the cushions to do the same.

My two cats are both litter trained, and have fallen out of habit?

Yes and I have tried everything. They are both fixed. They have crapped on the couch, in our dirty laundry, pretty much anything they can find that will provide a good cover up for their poo when they are done.
I've tried:
-to keep them in a small room with only their food, water and litter box (didn't work)
-to get them fixed (they still do it)
-changing litter brands

Also, I don't know if they are doing this because they are mad that both me and my husband leave for half the day to go to work. We show them plenty of affection for the time we are here, and beyond that there has been no changes to their lifestyle, no new pets. They just do it. We can't make them outdoor cats, they are terrified of outside and i don't blame them, our neighborhood had horrible little brats that torture pets outside. any help?

Are you cleaning the litter box enough. Litter boxes should be cleaned of cat pee and poop at least three times a day. If worse comes to worse, when you leave for work, keep them confined to an area of the house where they cannot get to your living room/etc. Also, clean litter box with bleach and soap every three weeks or so and change litter. Most cats do not like dirty litter boxes and they signal their owners by doing it in an area where they are not supposed to. Keep litter box in the bathroom. My cat feels very comfortable doing her business there, and if there is a mishap of some kind, I can clean it up easily. My cat will poop outside of the litter box if the litter box is dirty. So I clean it three times a day without fail, as my little Abysinnian princess is very fussy and so so clean...Unbelievable.

My cat won't stop scratching the $2,000 furniture!!!?

My 3 year old female cat gets restless in the winter, because she is such an outdoor cat. so she channels that restlessness on the furniture!! my mom is getting REALLY mad and she says if I don't find a solution she wants to get rid of the cat! we have a scratching post for her, and we've trained her to use it. we use couch covers, anti-scratching spray, and nothing really seems to work. de-clawing is not an option, because her whole life is practically outside and she would be defenseless. what should i do i love my cat to death!

Some people just aren't listening to you are they? You've said declawing isn't an option and full marks to you for that, so why do they persist in advising you to mutilate your cat against your will?

Does your cat not get outdoors at all in winter? If at all possible I'd advise you letting her go out for short spells so that she can do her clawing outside, but keep an eye out for when she's ready to come back in the house where it's warm. Also play lots of energetic games with her and play around her scratching post, make a game of dangling toys on the post so that she reaches for them and gets her claws on the scratching post. Give her lots of attention but when she goes to scratch the furniture just quietly pick her up and place her by the scratching post, let her know (but kindly) that she's disappointed you. Cats want to please but as scratching is an instinct they don't know they're doing wrong.

Maybe your mom just said she'd get rid of her in the heat of the moment, you sound like a caring family so I don't think it would come to actually letting her go.

Above all please don't let anyone persuade you or your mom to declaw the cat, her paws would be ruined and her life hardly worth living.

Good luck

I lost my job due to an injury which workmans comp won't cover by NH state law, what can I do now?

I was on a work trip but not at the work site (we stopped to stretch on the drive and I slipped and fell, badly spraining my foot) When my healing time was announced at 9+ weeks I was let go because I am an outdoor educator and can't work if I can't walk. I went to the unemployment office and can't file a claim because I'm not able to work. My job provided my food and housing so now I am without a job to pay for my treatment, with no place to live (I'm staying on friend's couches) and no money to eat. I don't know what to do. My boss said I am more than welcome to come back when I am well (I've been working there for 5 years now) but they aren't offering any other assistance.

Talk to a personal injury lawyer in your state. They will know what to do, and you should be able to find one with a free consultation.

You should also look into Social Security disability benefits. Contact your local SS office and let them know your situation and see if they can help. Hopefully the PI lawyer should be able to help you with this as well.

Why is my Dog coughing like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Rd4t8N1 Ug

My dog has been coughing like for a few days now. It happens every 30-60 minutes, whether he's inside or outside. He's a 7-year old American Eskimo. He has no history of any major illnesses. He's primarily an outdoor dog. He also sleeps outdoors (unless its very cold). Here are some facts. I live in Los Angeles, California. I recently put wood chips in my backyard as ground cover, though no one who's been there has experienced any coughing. I still can't tell if its a flu type couch of a choking. Can anyone help tell me why he's coughing like this. I plan on taking him to the vet this weekend if I can't figure out why.

Your Answer:
It could be one of several things
1. Kennel Cough
(Please when you call your vet for appointment let them know that is a possibilty, as they will want to bring you straight in to the exam room and not have you in the waiting room at all as it is highly contagious)

2. Something in the wood shaving is irritating him/allergic.

3. Heart issues.
(Most likely NOT heartworms as they are not an issue here in Southern California)

All three possibilites are vet worthy. Can't you take him any sooner?
