My wife and I just completed a total remake of our backyard. We ripped out everything, regraded, then re-sodded the lawn. It looks amazing. Now we want to put a nice patio furniture set out there. The question is though, will putting that out on the lawn kill the grass. I expect that it would kill whatever grass is right under the legs of the various pieces of furniture. However I don't know what it might do to the grass that's under the table/couch/etc... but doesn't actually have anything pressing down on it.

sounds like you've been bizzy in answer to you question yes the grass under garden furniture would die but if you just move it around every couple of days then all will be well you only need to move it a little just so that the legs are not resting on the same spot but you will have to continue moving it because lack of light will kill grass move it up lawn and then when you run out of room move it back down the lawn again

Ok so I live in an apt with like a quad type setting outside. basically a bunch of grass in between the other apartments. I want to set up a hammock outside for nice days but there's nothing to attach it to so I'll need some type of portable hammock. Do these type of things exist and where can I find them?

Also does anyone know of a site that has decent lawn furniture something comfortable is what I'm looking for.

Adirondack furniture is nice looking and actually quite comfortable. You can build it yourself and save $$.

Kids bought a cast iron swing set and lawn chair for my deck. When precipitation accumulates in the pipe frames, it leaves rust under where the furniture sits. Is it possible to treat the insides of the pipes with something to stop that?
Can I treat the metal to cut down on the rust giveaway?

You can get rid of the rust stains with CLR or Lime-Away.

I'm out of ideas. They had just finished construction work on the streets surrounding us but hadn't picked up the orange cones yet. I gathered them all while they were out and placed them all over thier front yard, and blocking their front door.
Then a few weeks later we came home to see all of our lawn furniture set up on our roof.
Could anyone explain "willow's" answer to me? I've read it like 4 times and am still confused.

see if you can get hold of the yellow tape and tape off their yard then put an outline of a body on the ground in tape on their front doorstep or pathway :)

I want to build a simple outdoor picnic table and use pine (mostly 2x4) for construction because it is inexpensive. I plan to set it on my backyard lawn, so it will be exposed to moisture and sunlight. Question is, if I stain & protect it, will it last just as long as other higher quality woods like redwood and cedar? Thanks.

The pine, properly stained, sealed, and protected, should last a good long while. Especially important is to guard the footings of the table and/or benches; wherever it comes in contact with the ground, lingering moisture will tend to invade the wood. Likewise, give the table a very slight slant and enough gaps to drain quickly and easily, to avoid any standing water.
However, with equal treatments on various types of wood, pine is still not the equal of redwood or cedar. Cedar, for example, possesses a natural chemical resistance to insects and rot that makes it last considerably longer.
Given how expensive the higher-quality woods are, it might be worthwhile to make a pine table and replace it after a few years, once it starts to decay.
