Does anyone know what kind if garden bench this is?

We are renovating our house, and uncovered a very old bench in the garden, im not sure if it was originally a park bench or for the garden.

It has very unusual iron legs/frame, and has two simple pieces of wood for the seat and back.

The very unusual thing about it is that the back is on a hinge, so you can move it over, and sit on the seat and face the other direction.

Does anyone know what kind of seat this is, and what it may have originaly been used for?

When I was a little girl growing up in Glasgow we had trams with seats like that.
As the tram got to the end of the line it couldn't turn round because it travelled on straight metal rails.
When it reached the end of the line the driver just moved to what had been the back of the tram and the conductor moved the back of the seats so they then faced the front again. The seats were often made of metal and wood.
Maybe your seat is a left over from those days.

How can I make a small garden bench?

I want to make my mom one of those small garden benches for her birthday. She saw one before and she loved it. Its made of all wood with (I think) wrought iron sides and legs. Its a very simple piece. Im not sure where or how to get the iron pieces though. I have searched online and all I can find is the bigger benches. What Im looking for is the type of bench that maybe children can sit on, mostly for decoration. Its about 4 feet long at most and maybe 3 feet high? If anybody has any ideas, plans, or sites where I can copy one from I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much!
Kinda like a small park bench. Im very crafty so I can do this, I just need more ideas. Thanks!

I have 3 paragraphs here... a question about descriptions?

Hi, so I know I have asked already but I only got 3 answers so I need lots more people to answer.
These 3 para's I have here are from different parts of a book I am working on so they may not make sense to you. Anyway, are they descriptive enough to let you (the reader) imagine the scene clear in your head or do they need to be more descriptive?
Thanks
Shaz x

Luca walked up the lane. The brick red house sat in darkness, the only source of light coming from the street lamps positioned a few feet apart. Number three, was the second house on the right. He approached it with caution, even though he knew he was invisible to the human eye when his wings were out. He couldn’t sense any immediate danger but he knew something had to be wrong or he wouldn’t have been sent here.

He slowly unlocked the gate and walked up the narrow garden path, past the close and up the steps to the front door. It was locked, of course, but Luca simply placed his hand over the doorknob and it clicked open.

***

Straight through the front door was a small hallway with dark wood floors and stairs covered in a deep red carpet. A strong smell of scented candles settled in Lucas’ nostrils. The owner was asleep upstairs, none the wiser to his presence and no matter how long Luca had to keep coming back here, the boy would never know. He made his way into the family room and took his position in the far corner. The room was large; it had two chocolate brown leather sofas positioned at opposite ends of the room. The flat screen TV sat on a low dark wood unit. The corner directly facing Luca was home to a two foot fish tank with a matching dark wood stand as the TV. Luca looked around and could see countless computer console games lying untidy on a shelf above the tank.

St. Mary’s church looked just as Impressive in the morning light as it did any other time of the day. The grey paved steps leading into the door were surrounded by two walls, upon which sat two cherubs. The door was arched and mahogany in color with black iron bars running across it. Luca pushed the heavy door open and walked inside. The church was silent, no one was here at this time in the morning and Luca would be long gone by the time morning mass began. He walked down the long narrow aisle, past the hundreds of benches all placed in a row, his footsteps echoing in the large room. The room was warm, Father Dowling always made sure of that. He reached the altar and waited. The altar was decked with green velvet and upon it sat two brass chairs. Beside each chair was a tall candle stand and the candle’s were always lit. Luca kneeled on the first step of the altar and closed his eyes and prayed.
Yeah I have described Luca in chapter 1, these are just 3 small seperate scene's in my book so far, that I have picked out to see if the detail gives a clear image in the readers head x

Okay! please don't take this too personally because this is very good and I am now very interested in reading your story, but I over analyze a little and I'm trying to be helpful. this is a very good story in the making from what I've seen. I just have a lot of little opinions.
Paragraph 1:
1.) set the atmosphere.
ex. "Luca walked up the narrow lane, his footsteps echoing in the darkness."
ex. "Light pierced through the abyss weakly like dim spot lights giving his path a yellow glow." or "setting his path aglow."
-You have descriptive words but I think you should use them to set the mood of the story as much as you use them to give an image to the reader. Also, I assume you explained what he looks like in another chapter, otherwise you should add it in.
Paragraph 2:
1.) What kind of candles are they? Lavender? you mentioned a scent, so I want to know what it is. Help me picture the entire scene, even the little things.
2.) Lying Untidily is the proper way of saying it.
-I really liked this paragraph very descriptive lol, now I want to know where it was going. you should post more ^.^
Paragraph 3:
1.) "where two cherubs sat" flows a little better than, "which sat two cherubs."
2.) I also want to know was the church imposing looking? Very large? Ominous? Did it have stained glass? colors? texture? Were people walking about as he was looking at it? A busy side walk and street or deserted? Introduce the time of day a little better, aswell. Set the scene so we have a better feel of how Luca sees this place and how he feels about the church. Did he feel a sense of relief from being here? or dread?
3.) Use the words, "church pews" instead of "benches".
4.) The room was warm and cozy? warm and stuffy? an inviting atmosphere? Was scent of wood from the pews was in the air? The sentence seems a little irrelevant without a little more info.
5.) Were they pale white candles? waxy and red? glistening from melted wax? did the candle holder look weighed down by all the wax on them from repeated use? was there a bible near by? you introduced religion, give a little more detail. Hints as to what your charcter's religious beliefs are. Did the candle stand glow with all of the candles lite? Did it light up the room? More mood setting. It could mean the difference between a good story and and a great one that pulls the reader in and makes them feel like they are a part of the story.

I have a few paragraphs here, would you tell me if they are discribtive enough?

Hi, can you see it in your head clear or could they be more descriptive?
Thank you x( they are from different parts of my book so they waont make sense, I just need to know if you (the reader can imagine clear)
