Hi

I have found a green cocoon on my garden chair. It is about 3/4 of an inch and covered in silk. Does anyone know what this is?

Hi there, I am not concerned about this cocoon just interested. It is green and is flat against my garden chair. It is covered in what looks like silk however, there is a tiny spider that seems to be hanging around it. About the size of an ant. The cocoon is about 3/4 inch. Could the spider be wanting to eat the cocoon or has it come from it? Im worried about squashing it everytime i sit down. Can i move it so that this does not happen, its securly attached to the chair thought because of the silk. I have looked at the Monarch and it does not look like this. What is it? Any suggestions?

It came from a green caterpillar. I bet it will produce an insignificant butterfly. Put it in a glass jar, and you will get your answer in a couple of weeks. The monarch butterfly caterpillar feeds on milkweed only, and should not be in your garden.

the dry black spotty mould...not the green slimy ....lol

A 1/4 cup of bleach in a quart of water will kill the mold. Putting it in an obscure place first to make sure it doesn't lift the color.

I was messing around yesterday and I saw a lizard and it was BRIGHT green.

I didnt remember that lizard being so light but then I noticed he was on a light green chair i had.

so the question came up does the normal lizard change color like its cousin the chamellion

No they don't have the ability it was probably a baby chamilion!

On re-reading it, it seems amusing to me but I don't think that was my original intention.

The Garden (2)

The heavy scent of roses
hangs in the evening air,
as the garden waits for usual routines.
Sudden lights, flinging back of shutters
bursts of laughter, radio noise.
The familiar sounds of
life within the house.

The stagnant air of stillness
begins to grate upon its nerves
and timid blossoms shiver
in the sheltering dusk.
The visiting midges hover high
like demented smoke-clouds
in the trees
feeling a strange and vague unease.

Night approaches, dipped in velvet,
spreading silence in its wake.
But the air of strange foreboding
doesn’t cease.
Down the red steps.
Past the green chair
its spindly back against the wall,
comes stealthily, a burdened figure,
dressed in black.
Though the garden is hopefully waiting,
quietly confident of her return
Something tells me
she isn’t coming back.

No, not amusing...but sad. Have lost five wonderful women friends in the past five years, this could be any of them...my opinion. All had wonderful gardens, which they loved.

It has beige/tan carpet, med oak furniture and is between office which is lt/med green (garden fairy Lowes) and foyer which is dark taupe. Reds seem too formal, I hate pink. Overall house is casual and coastal, greens & tans. Orange seems too jarring. No windows in the room. Chair rail and trim in white. Could do different colors upper and lower wall.

Dining rooms are very nice in a cream color. I used Sherwin Williams "Creme" for mine, with accents done in a deeper cream-gold color that was on the same paint sample card, I think, called "Straw Doll" (Sherwin Williams #1365). I painted it so it could have a chair rail... darker color below the rail and lighter above. You could also use a strip of wallpaper around the middle, one of the fancy border designs, like a greek key design.

The cream/gold combination goes well with eating, and it lets you use green tableware with gold/yellow accents. It will be just perfect with the other nearby colors. And it will perk up the carpet to have the gold color just above it, while the room won't feel as close as it would if done entirely in a dark color.
