I have a little garden fountain I bought about a year ago. I stored it away for winter and now that I'm moving to a new townhouse, I decided I should clean it before putting it back together.

What is the proper way to clean the fountain and pump and how do I keep it clean throughout the spring and summer?
Oh, what is true by putting a little bit of bleach in the water will keep alegy from building up? Or would that damage the pump?

Six ounces of standard laundry bleach once a month will keep your fountain water sparkling clean. You can certainly pay more for specialty products that will also do the job but they won't do it any better than a cheap bottle of household bleach. It works in my fountain.

My father is looking for pictures of a garden fountain that is shaped like an old car or something similar, does anyone know if this type of thing exists, and if so where to find one? It would be a perfect addition to their backyard....I have looked everywhere on the net and can't find a darn thing...... the search is on!

If I was trying to do this I would buy a basic, general fountain kit and install it in whatever you have in mind, whether a real old car or perhaps a pedal car toy or the like. Also, if you have a 'cement artist' in your area, one who specializes in birdbaths, urns, and --maybe they could custom cast a car for you. good luck

The fountain is in Greensboro, NC so it won't freeze over exeot for once or twice, and it won't freeze very deep. I'm looking tospend under $30 and i would rather have a bunch of little fish than one or two big ones.

Depends a little what you like, Goldfish are very tough. Koi are very good too. You can get Fantails, or Shebumkins? I forget if that is their actual name. They have a bumpy forehead. There are others too. I haven't looked at fish in a while.

But I would also get a catfish or two. They help clean the pond. Just remember not to overstock the pond. The fish continue to grow as they age. The more fish, and bigger fish, the more they poop in the water, and the higher ammonia levels get.

Also remember to acclimate your new fish to the pond. and let any new water sit to dissapate the chemicals before adding fish.

I need a solar powered pump for a garden fountain. There are many listed online but I'm afraid of getting something of exceptionally poor quality. Does anyone have brand names or suppliers to suggest? I'd rather pay a little more and know that it will last a long time.

Most of them are pretty good in terms of lasting - but I've yet to see a solar powered pump that produces anything more than a paltry weak sprinkle of a fountain. It just takes a lot of energy to move water. Solar lighting is much better. I have a traditionally-powered fountain for my pond, but it's lit with solar.

I'm trying to reconstruct an older outdoor fountain for a friend. I have photos of the existing parts but not sure what it's supposed to look like complete. I'm also not sure at this point where it came from, but I've already looked on the sites of some major manufacturers. Any suggestions?
