I just bought new furniture and was wondering what color to use for the walls. This is the couch:

and this is the dining room set:

Any ideas? (Specific color names would be appreciated)
By the way, this is just one long room to be divided into a dining area and a living area, so the color has to go with both...
Pale gold would be great, or caramel.

I'm going to make tissue paper ball decorations to hang from the ceiling, along with little white butterflies - but we live in a tiny apartment, so our living room is like our living/dining/office space, and I really want to make it magical. What do you think about setting up an area to take pictures - like use construction paper and things to make like a 'garden' back drop? I don't know what else I could do. Thank you for your help in advance!!!
How fun! You can use twinkle lights...make large tissue paper flowers. You can use green crepe paper to make the backdrop...make some crepe paper flowers & attach to it...it will make it more 3-D. Martha Stewart's website has directions on making those. You could also make it look like a forest. A paper tree on the wall & ceiling...have leaves hanging from the "branches" on ceiling...and the twinkle lights. Paper mushrooms & grass on the bottom of the wall. All easily made with construction paper...or a roll of craft paper and some craft paint.
You can easily make flower pens...take plain pens, green florist tape and fake flowers...either craft store or wal-mart have all of it. Then, use the tape to wrap around the pen & stem of flower. You can put these in a vase, tin pail, etc...put some beads, beans, etc. to hold them in place. This becomes a centerpiece, but can also be a party favor. Another place to get some ideas (you can either purchase or just get ideas) is etsy.com.
I bet http://www.kraftfoods.com has some great garden cakes too. I made one for my daughter using a fairy doll & a cake made in a ovenware bowl. After the cake is cool, wrap the doll in saran wrap, insert her legs into the cake to make it into her gown. Then, just decorate with icing & candy.
My kids never have traditional parties...we had an Alice in Wonderland party not too long ago. Right now, we are having A Little House on the Prairie party. Just get down to her level & see how it would look to her. Something so simple to us, can look so magical to kids.

Hi! i'm going to submit this story i wrote for a fiction class i did last semester at uni. i had to hand it into the class and a few people said that they wished it had more detail about the chair and about the characters but i was kind of thinking it was good not to have a lot of detail because then everyone can imagine it differently.
so i was hoping some of you would read the story and tell me what you think needs changing to make the story better. i would really be very grateful and if you post a link i am more than happy to answer your questions (i'm about to go to work so i will answer them all tonight when i get home!) also, i'm a university student so you know what level my writing should be at and i'm submitting it to be published in a collection of short stories from universities all over the world.
Thank you to anyone who answers! here's the story:
Rocking Chair
In a small country antique store, between a hall stand and a coffee table, stood a rocking chair. The owner had not been dead two weeks before her children had begun dismantling their mother’s life, dividing her possessions and like vultures swooping on the silverware and jewellery. When they had looked on the cherry wooded chair with its thick tapestry seat they had not argued over it the way they had the engagement ring or the dining set,
“You take it Ella,” one had said.
“I can’t put that in my house, it would look ridiculous with the modern furniture.”
“It’s too nice to just throw out, we could sell it, at least then we’ll get something for it?”
“Probably not worth the effort but we’ll give it a try,” someone had replied before the eldest son had carried it to a pile outside and they all forgot about it.
In a Brighton house a man and his pregnant wife went to bed. The man lay there listening to his wife’s breathing until it slowed and he knew she was asleep, then he carefully climbed from under the blankets, pulled on a jacket and a pair of work boots and made his way to the bottom of a garden. Inside his workshop he carved and sanded and painted with love thinking of his wife and their baby. For weeks he worked through the night, waiting for his wife to sleep and then creeping to the bottom of the garden where he then set work.
The day his wife brought their son home was one in a series of the happiest of his life. He took them up the stairs to the nursery and there in the centre of the room stood a cherry wooded rocking chair with a tapestry seat. The man presented the gift to his wife and told her of his stealth, sneaking away in the night. They laughed and the woman sat in the chair and rocked their newborn child to sleep.
The years passed and two more children came. The family grew and the nursery became their mothers sewing room, a place of comfort and refuge from the outside world for the children. The rocking chair watched as many scraped knees were bandaged and tears wiped away. The mother sat in her rocking chair as she consoled, lectured and counselled her children and when she had been left alone in her room she rocked in her chair and thought of the gift that her husband had given her. A chair, a family and love.
A young man walked down the street of a country town He was searching for a present that would show his wife, his love for her and their unborn child. As he walked something caught his eye from the window of an antique store. It was a cherry wood rocking chair. As the young man looked at the chair he pictured his wife rocking with their child in her arms.
That night, while his wife slept, the man carried the chair from his car to his shed where he began lovingly restoring his gift.
That's a beautiful story.
Maybe instead of saying "When they had looked on the cherry wooded" you could say "When they looked at the cherry wooded", but I can tell we are from different places, and that may be the way you speak over there.

Hi! I need some opinions on whether i need to add more detail to this short story before i hand it in to my class at uni for criticism e.g. describe the chair more, tell more about the events that happen
so if you could please read it and tell me i would be so grateful and happy to answer your questions in return if you post a link!
thank you!
