i was wondering if anyone knows where a good place to buy baby furniture (crib, swing, ect.)is in korea? there is absolutley no selection on base.

Travel up to Yongsan and go to the furniture store (it is on South post next to the movie theater). They will order stuff for you and you can have it delivered to your BX or if they have it in stock, they will ship it free to your BX. Same if you find something on AAFES.com

I wouldn't suggest buying on the economy as it is VERY expensive(sometime 3x's the cost).

You can find wooden handcrafted furniture in the trade fairs like the one organized at Pragati Maidan in Delhi or Surajkund Mela in Haryana. However, this year there is no crafts fair left to be organized. However, a shopping festival cum crafts fair is to be organized in Gurgaon on the lines of surajkund crafts fair during the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) to be held in Delhi. A pre-shopping festival would also be organized in February 2010 in Gurgaon itself in order to assess the arrangements needed for this October trade event. You can try and find good furniture there.

What do you think about buying exercsaucers, swings, furniture, bassinets, play gyms and strollers used?

Have you bought anything used? Is it a better deal?

And if you bought your baby stuff used, what did people buy you at your shower? (if you had one)

I think used is a good idea except for car seats or cribs unless they are just a year or two older for safety reasons. Everything else is all good because kids are so expensive and grow so fast it's almost not worth buying anything new.

Kids bought a cast iron swing set and lawn chair for my deck. When precipitation accumulates in the pipe frames, it leaves rust under where the furniture sits. Is it possible to treat the insides of the pipes with something to stop that?
Can I treat the metal to cut down on the rust giveaway?

I have seen a company ( http://www.musicalfurnishings.com/ ) that makes xylophones into various pieces of furniture (like swings, small tables, toyboxes, etc). How do you make a xylophone with all of the bars the same length? I would think it would be hard to get the pitch adjusted. Thanks.

do these pieces double as musical instruments. or are they just stylized? Planing the bars will alter the pitch, but you will run into a lot of problems making the piece function as furniture as well. I just checked the site and see they do play. Order their catalog and see if you can find another site on tuning. It looks like they carve out the centers of the bars to alter pitch and leave the ends alone.
