I am moving into an apartment in Austin, TX on August 23. I am looking for a way to purchase cheap furniture used or new and have it delivered to my door. Every cheap furniture option I can find either requires pick-up or ships through the mail which doesn't give a specific delivery date. Does anybody know of a way I can have cheap furniture delivered to my door?

Ikea does delivery, and you can specify a certain day, at least if you go into a store and order in person you can.

Bobs Furniture-- Literally Hell--Buyer Beware

Last month I had my first couch delivered to my home. Apparently the furniture was too big for my doorways and the delivery men forced the merchandise into my doorways, damaging my walls doorway and ceiling. I took pictures of the walls and everything else. Now I need to know what should be included in the letter that will be sent to the service center of the people I purchased from. I have no idea really of what to say in the letter besides that my walls were damaged. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

In the first instance write to the company you contracted to deliver the goods with photos if you have them.

Explain to them that they will be receiving copies of estimates to repair the damage and you will expect them to co operate.

how long does it take to get furniture delivered from rent a center you ordered online?

When you go to a store, you will finish the process within no more than 30-40 minutes, so if you can, just stop by at a rent-a-center near you and check out the merchandise for your self.

I just had some furniture delivered today and after the delivery guys left I opened the boxes and found 2 of the items were broken. The guys had already left and did not open the boxes (it was a dresser and mirror). The mirror was cracked and the dresser was dented in. Can I get my money back or an exchange?

get a hold of the company asap and tell them the problem. when you call, make sure you keep a record of the call, exactly who you talked to and keep written notes for reference. if you can do your correspondence with email, even better.
this way, if they refuse to deal with you, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company and they can do a charge back on your card.
you will need some sort of proof or record that you tried to rectify the problem in good faith with the merchant first, which is where the call log you made and/or the emails come in. have a pen and paper handy with a list of the info you need- like the company contact's name , position, and direct number. handy so that you don't forget to obtain this info while talking to them. also be firm- if you stick to your guns the chances are that the company will eventually cave and replace your order even if they try to give you problems first. many times customer service employees are required to discourage you, so don't take it personally. if you're getting nowhere with the first person you speak to, always ask for the supervisor ( remember, get every body's name. good luck btw, next time you get a delivery, always open and inspect the merchandise in front of the delivery man before you sign. do not let him pressure you into signing before you see that your order is inn acceptable condition. if not, refuse the delivery and write on his sheet why you will not take it.

A shipping company said to me that I need a visa if I ship furniture to the Philippines, is that true? Do you know any good shipping company as well who can help me move my furniture from UK to the Philippines.

They are telling you the truth. Either a SSRV (retirement visa) or a 13a spousal visa if your married.
I think you will discover as I did that it is way too expensive to ship furnature here and the prospect of waiting 8-10 weeks for the container to be delivered did not appeal to me. Your much better off buying decent quality furnature new here.
