Had an accident while cooking calamari outside yesterday. A tarp that was covering a glass patio table caught on fire with grease from the splatter of oil. Went up in flames like a firework and ended up busting the glass patio table and leaving shards of glass covered in a greasy, melted tarp on my patio. Any suggestions on what to scrub on the patio to get it clean?

You wont. I'm sorry. Assuming its a masonry patio its stained forever. If its pavers you can flip them and re lay them. You cant flip bluestone because it tends to have a finished side layed up. Brick you can flip over. Homeowners insurance should cover your cost.

my daughter has left a hibiscus plant outside on a glass top patio table all summer. She waters it faithfully. Last Saturday evening she mentioned to her husband she could smell something burning in the back yard but couldn't determine a source. In the morning when she went out to hang some clothes out,she saw that the hibiscus was burnt to a crisp still smouldering. It had burnt from the roots up with just a couple of leaves left. The soil almost gone. She poured water over it and it steamed away as if still on fire. Would this have happened in here house if the plant was in it's normal spot in livingroom?

Not if it was in a dry area and you only gave it recommended amount of water the fire was caused by spontaneous combustion it often happens in a hay stack where the hay was baled when grenn or damp ~~

I am wanting to find some way to light the side area of yard, it is in the shade all day long, so solar lights aren't an option, and I don't want to have to run electric. I am turning my side yard into a rock patio with a fire pit, couple of chairs, a small table, etc. but it is soooo dark on that side at night I wouldn't be able to enjoy it, if the light from the fire pit wouldn't be enough. Please Help!!! All ideas welcomed!!!

There are solar kits with remote solar panels. You may be able to mount the solar panel somewhere it'll get sun. You may even be able to lengthen the wire if needed.

The link below is for a solar floodlight I found real quick, but i've seen decorative solar lights with several spot/floods that are all connected to a solar panel by wires.

I just went to get some logs for the fire and found a huge garden frog hiding on one of the logs. Is this frog hibernating? Don't they usually hibernate in water? S/he didn't jump or move but was very much alive, I put him/her (might be a her) into a small cardboard box and put the box at the back of the logs. When I was going back into the house I noticed what looked like eggs on the patio table, is this frog confused? Did I do the right thing? We have cats and I didn't want them to help themselves.

the frog isnt confused and possibly the cats have already found the eggs and put them on the patio. as far as being in the pile of wood and not moving it was possibly trying not to be noticed. you suprised it and it was shocked into having its regular habitat disoriented or something alog those lines possibly.

Who likes mosquitos?
So you don't like those pesky mosquitoes.
Here's a tip that was given at a recent gardening forum.
Put some water in a white dinner plate (I suppose a small white platito will do) and add a couple drops of Lemon Fresh Joy Dish Washing Liquid. Set the dish on your porch, patio, picnic table, park bench, or other outdoor area.
Not sure what attracts them, the lemon smell, the white plate color, or what, BUT ... mosquitoes flock to it, and drop dead shortly after drinking the Lemon Fresh Joy & water mixture,.
TRY IT --- it works just super! It may seem trivial, but it may also help to control mosquitoes around your home, (especially in areas where the dengue and malaria carrying mosquitoes are reaching epidemic proportions) .
Pass this on to anyone who likes sitting out in the evening, or when they're having a cook out.
It's safer than mosquito coils - no offensive odor and harmful fumes, no risk of fire.

Yes, 'day, your lemon thingy works. I can attest to that. We've long been using it here in Houston where our mosquitoes are gigantic (as they say, everything's big in TX). I first learned about it from a sales clerk at Walmart (or was it Target?) when I was buying those battery-operated insect zapper. She suggested I try the "lemon pool"...voila! the lamok is dead! The zapper thing works great for bigger flying insects/bugs. Perfect combo at poolside for a warm summer evening swim.
