I know they are hard as a rock but the hard composite type would most likely last longer. By composite I mean material like Trex*. That's the fake wood products you see for decks and porches.

I was given a picnic table made out of redwood. Other than the fact that it's pretty dirty, it's in excellent shape structurely. I would like to clean it up and re-finish it and was wondering what the best product on the market is for this purpose. Depending on how it turns out, I will either leave it natural or put a clear coat of preservative on it.
Pressure wash it. That should make it look new again. Then when it's good and dry (24 hours at least) put a couple of coats of linseed oil on it. You can use a small garden sprayer for applying.
